Parked at Ardgartan Forest, on walking along the forestry track this hill looks impossible to climb. Great path up by stream once leave forest. We went up here because clouds down to 800 m and proved wise choice: opposite Beinn Narnain and The Cobbler summits under cloud whereas we had good views.

Ascended from the NW having just done Ben Donich. All very good exercise. Also decended down the NW slope to the mapped path which seems to have been diverted to the north. Follow the white posts. The only diversion sign we ever found was down at the track in the Croe Water valley. This was after a lengthy conifer branch fight trying to find a passable route through dense forest, sinking through soft boggy slippy ground on almost sheer gradients, who needs assult courses? Pillar completed 14th June 1956, cost £73.12s.2d. Tertiatry station in Block NS29, Greenock. Two top edges chiped and damage in to spider leg ends, pillar otherwise good. Spider centre is open. All four sighting holes open but blocked with internal debris. FB on NE face of pillar. Photographed 24/03/2007, GRP.
