Walked from Wickham up Hoads Hill, and crossed the road where there's a gate to the water tower. Climbed the gate and walked through, round the resevoir, and up towards some oak trees, where the trig point was found beside a fence. The walk up Hoads Hill isn't pleasant, and the road is busy, but there's no ditch / brambles / barbed wire to contend with.

Pulled over by gate on west side of Forest Lane near high point of road, opposite a house, partly overlooked. Looked like recent ground works carried out, surface of loose but hard packed tarmac. Headed west along track towards mast and reservoir. Walked along south side of reservoir boundary through field of tall grass and weeds. Checked on here after a while to learn pillar beside an oak tree on north side of the fence. Climbed under barbed wire fence, still took a bit of searching to locate. No views from pillar although nearby good views towards the south.

Writing this in Aug 2018. Just dug out an old map and found notes on a few trigs I did in 1998. I remember this trip well, on NY Day as part of a resolution to do more trigging, I got up early and drove around a circuit of six North of Portsmouth. This was the last and I made no notes, but the map shows that I reached it OK.
