Located just off dead end lane about 5 meters into field - Pillar in good condition quiet farmland views.
Road side location - Pillar good condition and acting as part of a dry stone wall - quiet area farmland views.
This is definitely gone so has the original footbridge - this one is new, I suggest it was changed as part of the M5 widening works. compare CJO's image from October 2012 to mine taken today
Bit of a sad location this one - Pillar is located on service road that goes round the back of the houses in Belroyal Aveneue (you can drive all the way) looks like it a bit of a tipping area and it is getting lost in rubble and garden rubbish. conditon appeared good to me.

Great walk along the ridge - amazing place and amazing views - very windy - loved every minute of it - pillar good condition - a "must do" pillar :)

Located in a bunch of Daffodils - looks like a surface block now as top bit gone.
Located a few meters from the A697 - Farmer in field so was a quick dash between tractor movements - Pillar good condition, farm land view - great drive along the A697 :).

Bit of digging required as it was about 20cm down no real points to measure from. I suggest 2m in from the road and about 9m diagonally from the small tree (see images). All good condition large brass Surface Block. Exposed for now.
Easily located on green next to tower block - supprisingly good condition for a "Towny" crap views in all directions :)

Moved and Toppled - I parked to the North West at the road junction then along foot path then "public way" then "got lost" and followed farm track to location - pillar has been moved from its field location and has been left lying on its side in a small clump off trees - felt tresspassy, didn't hang around long as I could hear shotguns and dogs so took a hasty retreat. quiet downland views saw several red dear and a dead stag in the woods. Strange lumps of concrete nearby looks like the remians of another pillar - thoughts?? - Better than average score for this as it completes all the pillars in Sussex (East & West) :)
I asked for permission at Easton Farm and it was no problem - the guy went on to tell me where the pillar is located and said with a raised eyebrow "there's not much to see you know" some people just don't understand :) Pillar looks good enough for a "good" log only very minor chips seen a lot worse - low lever farming area very quiet.
I asked at the farm for permission on this one, as there was lots of activity going on in the fields. The guy I spoke too did not know of it - I found out why after, it is located on the land of the next farm! as it is located on the west side of the stream (which is the farm boundry) so i didn't have permission after all :) Pillar good condition, farmland area low lying. Parking in layby on the A259 North of Pillar.
Located just off the road one wall to hop over - field full sheep sleeping, well not for long after I bonced over the wall :) - good condition night time views.

I Parked just off the road on the lane at the bend to the North West then over a very boggy path to the pillar - lots of eyes looking at me in the torchlight - good condition some good views over to the city even in the dark lots of fireworks to watch.

I parked to South then along footpath past WW2 Anti Aircraft Remains then over to the Pillar - good condition apart from the centre has been got at - great night time views over the city and along the coast and to lighthouse.
I Parked opposite by the petrol station and then a Hedgehog Run over the road - Pillar in good condition located next to cycle way - view along coast dark so lots of lights to see.
This one deserves a new status of "Trigaside" this one topped its self at the prospect of living any longer in this area! - the last time I saw a place like this it was on "Police Camera Action" - lock up your car!! Great Find Dusty!

Parking to the South then along the paths past "Centre Barks" (great name :)) then up to the top - pillar was located on a small clearing and there is certainly a square block there where it used to be, is this the "Conversion"? it does not look like a broken off pillar, is this where the buired block is? - nice views anyway.
This one is Destroyed still in two minds about its replacement :)
Parking next door in the Rugby Club carpark - located on small bank next to skip - all appears to be in good condition, view over to Swansea in the dark and wet.

Revisit as was passing by - total change in surroundings since my last visit 7 years ago - it is now in a large clearing - not sure what it has been cleared for? - Pillar good condition. no views due to trees.
Revisit while looking (unsucessfully) for the nearby Surface Black - still in good condition some great views nearby great Surry Hills location.
No luck finding this - GPS is a bit erratic under the trees and the ground is about 2 foot deep in bracken and leaves - some nice views and a pillar nearby.
I parked to the North and followed the footpath to the woods then over low broken barbwire fence and over to pillar - good condition reasonable view and pleasant short walk. Bit of a change to surroundings since first image taken in 2004 by Peregrinus. The Hedge lines on the current 25K are no longer there and it is on large field with some horses at the far South today, there is a Golf course next door now too, look to me as if it could be due for expansion to include the pillar?

Parking to the South West then about a mile over to this one along Byway - Pillar is located in the south hedge of the byway and is a bit beaten up - leaning at 45 degrees and the top is smashed off - luckily FB still there, farmland area and views - noise from nearby main roads.

Parking in the £2.50 Car park then over to Pillar good condition and located off the path over an electric fence and being guarded by Highland Longhorns today.
I parked in the golf course car park then along to this one - was a bit difficult to find as it hiding on the side of the hill and lost in the undergrowth - bit of digging required to see FB number and the top was covered in ivy - missing cap and plug - views over the avon gorge nearby.
I parked along to the East on the lane and then walked about 300m to this one - been got at and the spider has been "chaved" - urban place - what is that thing next door?
Revisited today as was unable to get close last time - approach was parking to the East next to bus stop and then along field edge along side of house and water board compound, then up the bank through the nettles, through the brambles, over to the 5 foot wall, scale the wall, through the nettles, through the brambles to the bramble covered steps, fight your way through the brambles and up the bramble covered steps to the top of the reservoir, pillar is located in the far left corner hidden in bushes, simples!! good condition farmland views - good score due to getting to it!! :)
I parked to the North under the trees then on to open field and along between two fields with no boundry, one with stubble and one with something else small and green - pillar in good condition farmland views.
I parked at the farm to the South East, then easy walk 700m along ROW to pillar - all in good condition reasonable views across Kent.
Parked to North then along the South Downs Way for a while then South through the managed woodlands to the pillar - got a bit of a lean on this one, no views due to tree some great views on the way up.
I Parked at the farm to North with permission from the farmer, he gave me instructions how to reach "his" pillar, Pillar has some slight cracking and is located next to small clump of trees on the ROW - amazingly peacefull place with some great views
Parked to North West by the bend in the lane then along footpaths through the woods - pillar was located in a field of 7 foot high Corn - so was a challenge finding it and would of not been possible without GPS, it was a bit like a scene From Stephen King's "Children Of The Corn":) at least it is not possible to trample crops when they are over a foot above your head! - pillar is in reasonable conditon with slight cracking and located in a small clearing in the corn. no views except corn!
I parked in the car park to the North then followed a long clockwise loop up to this one, there are some great views on the way - pillar is located just off the ROW and is good condition apart from a few minor cracks - no views at pillar some great ones a few meters away.

I had a look at this a while ago but considered it a little exposed on a busy day - tried again today, when i arrived there today the farmer and land owner was chatting at the end of the path to the pillar, permission was readily given with and explaination of where to look - not sure of this is the same land owner mentioned by Clanfield Rambler - Pillar is in good condition and located against fence and covered in ivy - farmland views.
Location was just off Pluckley Road - next to footpath - certainly nothing here now not even any remains as far as I could see - Destroyed - updated 14th October Google Earth 2003 shows what appears to be the marks where the feet of the tower would of been - see http://www.mycetes.co.uk/a/page16.html for more info about Air Beacons.
Parking by the church - then along the Greensand Way (when you manage to find the route through the farm yard!) - Pillar is located a few meters off the ROW in a hedge and as is located on the East side of the fence but FB only visible form the West - Good condition - quiet farmland views.
Water tower in compound - Lighting Conductor is visible even in the thick fog! - all appears in good condition.
Followed MCL's route to this one (Thanks Martyn) although I did come back through the woods to the lane - Pillar is in good condition and was difficult to find at this time of the year, it is located about 1m back from the fence so a quick hop over is required - farmland views and very quiet.
Ashford Station Tower - looks to be about the only remaining part of this station most of the rest looks to be for the bulldozer.
Wasn't sure how to log this one - this is on the end of a deserted pier (see log for lighthouse) the end section is fenced off, so technically it is "inaccessible", however the Bolt is visible a few feet from the base of the light house with a yellow triangle around it - what do you think?
Fairly intersting this for an Intersection - Parking to the west in the pay £1 car park and then along to the pier, the route takes you through a deserted railway station, along the platform (which has a strange statue in the middle of the tracks) then out onto to pier, it appears to be completly defunked and looks like an H&S hot spot, the lighthouse is located at the far end and appears to be in good condition.
Revisit to this one to have another look at the remains that i first saw a few years ago - pretty sure the base is all that remains - very wet and foggy up here today so no views.

Got confused with these lighthouses as there are so many - i think this one is not here anymore - other 3 clearly visible. camera not good enough for decent pictures at this range in these conditions.
Like others I parked at the Dover Patrol Monument to the South then along the Saxon Shore Way along cliff top then West along the side of a huge field, then along edge of golf course to the pillar - it is located just on the course side and the western edge of the course - good condtion hard against what appears to be a new fence - nice walk over and good views, if you look away from the golf course.
What a huge one! - a monster River located next to footpath sign - was buried about 6 inches down since Arnand's visit two years ago - all in good condition - left dug up and exposed for now.
Parked in Farthingloe Road to the North East then up the steep footpath (45 degree steep!!) which is a challange - mind you so was comming down in the rain, then along the "road" across the top to the pillar - condition looks good to me apart from a hole in the tarmac plug - good views.

Very easily located a few meters along bridleway large are to park in too - farmland views - Pillar good condition
As others I went in the hole in the hedge on road junction, you can park on the verge near the hole. walked about 80m through some planted trees to pillar which is located against the road side hedge, inline with the end of the disused runway, seen some action and has a big lump missing from the side.
Parked next to electricity sub-station then short walk along the bridleway - unable to find to start with as it is located on the field side to the east of the bridleway and requires a hop through the hedge - Pillar good condition farmland views.

GPS shows this as to the North of the road but the reservior is to the south - either way there is no "Stand Pipe" visible as far as I could see.

Parked next to gate ("Gate 3") on A603 to the South West of the main gate, then over the gate (there is a strickly private Cambridge University sign on it) Pillar is located in the field to the left, stubble to day so walking over to it was not a problem - interesting location looks semi deserted? had a tresspassy feel about it - pillar good condition farm land views to the North - Space age views to the South and East.
Easily located about 100m from the road with parking at the end - pillar is located in the right hand hedge and was not that easy to spot this time of the year. I usually would of had a stamp down of the plant growth for a better picture, but decided against that as neighbours were in the garden and it might be thier hedge - pillar good condition farmland views.
Lucky to of survived this one due to all the developement going on in this area, pillar good condition and located on footpath urban views (well now there are) seen some changes over the year no doubt.
This is one of those that has bugged me for a while and I have had several half hearted attempts over the last few years - today was successfull - Access from the small business park to the South then "get lost" on the footpath (I went with the intention of asking at the farm but was unable to find anyone around) Pillar is located about 400m from the farm in stubble today. Farmland view and over to Brands Hatch - this must be one of the least visited pillars (along with Scudders Hill) in the south!
Second time lucky for this one - access no problem - I parked near the pub to the south west (ish) that is where the bridleway crosses the lane then along the bridleway to the north of the pillar, there is a small wooden gate on the right at TQ5187671231 which was open and there are no private signs, from there followed my nose up to the top. Pillar is in good condition and is located in thick bramles, no longer on any form of lawn. no view.

I will go for Destroyed for this one - found location easy enough, the concrete has been "repaired" at some time and looks like the Rivet was covered or removed in the process. EABM (Enviorment Agency Bench Mark?) on opposite barrier support.
"Low hanging fruit" this one parking next to road junction and quick pop into woods - pillar in good condition and painted white - I think I got a couple of strange looks while squatting down next to pillar for the FB Image!!
I Parked in Pooleys Lane to the to the East (ish) then along farm track past stables and then along grotty fly tip footpath over to pillar, slightly damaged with a small lump out of the top (looks if an attempt has been made on the Spider?) - average views, bit too urban for me liking.

Visited by prior appointment with Ian. Pillar has been moved a few miles from it's original location, and has been "re-planted" in the Peaks, pillar in top condition, not as high as others around :)
Stop the press! - Traffic cone has gone and the FBM is now covered by a pile of rocks. I spoke to the Landlord he said cone kept blowing away, and then people keep driving into it! so a "cairn" seems to of done the trick - I carefully removed the rock, took my images and re-covered it. FBM is a bit knocked about, great views.

I parked to the North East by road junction then along footpath then access land to this one up the "steps" to the top. Pillar is in good condition and is made of stones - great views all around.

I don't hold out much hope for this one, it appears to be inline for an expansion of the landfill site, I have had a look for this one a few times over the years and each time it's circumstances look to of changed, the last time i looked a few weeks ago and was unable to find it, it was somewhere in a huge hedge, today this hedge has been chopped down to pillar height and looks to me if it is going to be removed alltogether. I approached for the South East and parked at the road junction at Lidsey then along the footpath (which is diverted from that shown on OS map) after you have crossed the drive to landfill site along the other half of the footpath along a high fence, after 500 yrd (approx) there is a high gate, which you can easily slip past then along the track for 100m (approx) to the pillar, it is leaning now and is located a few meters past the gap as you head to the power line pole. The landfill is agressively private so I opted for an evening "raid" after it was closed.
I Parked in the "Works" on the 25k OS map to the East it appears to be a caravan site for immigrant farm workers judging by the collection of Polish and eastern European cars parked there, I parked along side and took the path from there along to the dyke then over to pillar, felt a bit tresspassy, but had no problems, despite there being several farm vehicles about. Pillar is in good condition and located on bank of dyke, farmland views.
Easily located Surface Block - a couple of meters from footpath sign - looks like it has had a bashing from the lawn mower, farmland views.

Parked on other side of the road in Holcot Lane, bit of a Hedgehog Run over the road, Pillar located on bank of estury and was completely covered in plant growth, took some stamping down to reveal it, it appeared to be in good condition to me, nice views of estury. One of the lowest pillars?
No Gas Works, No Clock Tower, nothing here but an industrial estate. Destroyed.
Parking just along Buckettsland Lane in a layby then an easy walk to road junction, pillar is located in the nearest corner of the small copse in field - access no problem today as field in stubble, there is a sign suggesting that there is a ploughing competition on 15th Sept, might be a good day to bag it. - pillar complete and lying on it side. Should be both "Moved" & "Toppled"
Parked in Golf Course carpark for this one then along edge of course easy pop up onto top of reservoir, got a couple of odd looks from Golfers :) Pillar in good condition Golf course type views.
The challange with this one is knowing where to park, after a bit of driving around i opted to park in Winniepeg Way then up bank past canal and onto dual carriage way section to main A10 Roundabout (look out for traffic) Rivet is located in the concrete end of the crash barrier and is in good condition, totally uninteresting location.
Parked at the huge Riding Stables (no one seemed to mind as there was so many people around ;)) Pillar is located a short distance along a foot path to the East of the main building, good condition sinking a tad, farmland views.
I parked next to the round gate house to the South West and then along overgrown footpath. I found this interesting for an Intersection, living locally I know this area well, the Airport building is interesting with lots of history and well worth a visit and a cup of tea in the cafe too :). It was apparent that there was no Beacon on the roof, so I found an Ex RAF Navigator who was there today promoting the Airshow there in a few days. He informed me the beacon was moved a few years ago and was relocated in the centre of the Airfield, he said it was on the roof from when he first flew there in the 1950's. There is another Air Beacon outside the main building that has a lable on it advising that it used to be located on Leith Hill(TP7362)perhaps another OS Intersection? I was given a contact number to hopefully arrange for a closer visit. Better than average score for an intersection due to the history. Grid Ref Approx.

Easy walk over from information board by reservior - Pillar good condition and was in recently haversted hay field today - amazing place when it comes to the history of England and the Civil war.

Looks simple on the map this one, have another look at the contour lines! :) The footpath to the East is passable but not for everyone except a mountain goat, i got up it but it sure was a challange in the rain! I would suggest it is one of the steepest footpaths in this part of the world, once you're at the top and got your breath back it is an easy walk along the field edge to the point where the map suggests the footpath heads off past the pillar, there was no path apparent through the corn so took a diversion along and onto some tractor tracks. Pillar in good condition and is located about 50m into field - nice area loverly views and dead quiet.
This is one of those that I have been pondering over for a while and driven by several times - access was straightforward (although felt odd) I parked on the verge next to the roundabout to the North East and proceded to the secruity barrier, as commented by Trigpoint100 the barrier is not manned, there is a sign that states "Tag Holders Only" and there is a small white pedestrian gate at the left which is locked, but it is an easy squeeze by, easy walk along to the compound and was quiet at this time of the morning (i dont think residents here go to work!) There are some serious houses here it is indeed "Beverly Hills". Pillar is located in a compound surrounded by a small black spikey fence, which is a very easy hop over, good condition pillar, interesting area, extra points for the secret squirrel approach.

Pleased to find this one with no sketch - got to approx GPS location and started proding with the latest addition to me "Trigging Kit" an Army folding spade, after a few minutes "clunk" something solid - bit of digging later and there it was - all in good condition, it is located 3 meters from the telegraph pole and 1 meter for the verge edge of the white line. - good score given due to succes factor :)
I think this one needs a status all of it's own something like "Not a good idea to dig up someones lawn to find it" :) suggest it will still be there but it appears to be under a lawn section outside riding stables something i was not prepared to dig up.

Second time lucky for this one, yesterday i read the logs and carefully measured out the 3m from the culvert and 2.5m from the road, no luck! so gave up - got back to hotel and read logs properly this time and relalised i was going in the wrong direction - twit! :) Second attempt no problems found after a few minutes of proding still located under small slab (replaced) all appears in good condition. Agreed - this is one of those that looks so simple on the map, not so! I parked in the close to the North and past the gate that leads to the aerial, Pillar is located about 50m along the path on the right about 10m back, very well camouflaged - all appears to be in good condition, no views.
Parking in farm entrance, not that easy to find, well not this time of the year, Surface block is located on the bank and lost in the hedge - take the OS sketch with you and mark out the 9.10m from the corner, then get up into base of hedge, all appears to be in good condition.
Parked at the Discovery Centre and walked off to this one - very quiet in the woods as everyone else "Going Ape" - pillar in good condition located just off the main path - off to County Top of Surrey Hill a mile or so South East.

Weather better today so hoping over fence not a problem - lowest on the North East corner - Bolt (small Rivet type one) is located on the surround of a round concrete structure - all appears to be in good condition - nice South Downs area. Updated 04/08/2012 - looking on Google Earth I think there might be 2 as it appears to be a few meters from the one i found, i will return ASAP. Udate 10/08/2012 - Revisited looked where Google Earth suggests and was unable to find anything else.

Looks like Church has been rebuilt? - I am no expert but the current Church looks a lot more modern and certainly does not have a "Tower Cross" - OS Data CROSS DEMOLISHED 0994 - Internet Data - Before 1994 this was the most distinguished modern church in Crawley. It was built in 1952-54 to the design of N F Cachemaille-Day and Partners (ICBS/60 Churches p96) and showed distinct continental influence, in architecture and liturgy. A flat-roofed glazed rotunda, perhaps unconsciously echoing E G Asplund’s Stockholm Town Hall of 1921-28, surmounted a cube-shaped main part and the influence of the French architect Auguste Perret was also apparent. Inside, it was the only church in Crawley with a central altar. A hall to the north could be opened into the church, but a planned east extension was never built. The church was declared redundant in 1993. Its site was sold and the church demolished. A new one with the same dedication, but on a different site in Gales Drive, was opened in 1995. Rivet also listed for the same site - also Destroyed.
Looks like the best approach is from the footpath to the North then left at first field junction then right at the next - Pillar is located in field to left of that field edge unfortunatley the field is currently full of 5 foot high wet Oil Seed Rape, which would be virtually impossible to get through - GPS suggests it is 130m out in the field, felt tresspassy too - will return. Certainly Inaccessilbe at the moment.
Parked at The Ferry Inn, then along to footpath near the river slipway, along footpath to top gate then along scrubby area at top of river bank - pillar is in good condition and looks out over the Swale a very remote area for this part of South East.

Great find!! - as described remains of/damaged lying buried in undergrowth at base of small tress, I used the brut force and ignorance approach insted of gardening tools (big feet and lots of stamping) got some stings and scratches on the way in, several pieces left turned a few over no sign of any brass work. GPS shows 76m

I approached this one from the footpath that comes from the west easy walk over to pillar which is located just off the footpath in the corner of a field to the left, bit of a squeeze over barbed wire and under tree, Pillar good condition looks like a cow meeting point, farm land area and view GPS shows 93m.

Tower well worth a visit, it will cost £4.50 interesting museum. agree with previous logs nothing apparent on the roof (assuming it was on the roof and not on the ground nearby?)I asked the guy that worked there, he had no knowledge of anything OS related, I asked if there was access to the turrets, and was advised not unless you have a ladder, so would suggest it is not on the turrets. Amazing views - so windy today.

I parked at Dumbleton Hotel and over to this one - it is a tresspassy one and there is a "no right of way" sign on the gate leading to the hill. I skirted round the hill to the left and therefore did not see the sign ;) - it is a steep climb up with no defined path - Pillar is in good condition and is located within a group of young beech trees, and surrounded in lots of nettles - some good views to be had from the top. I came down the North side, with hindsight this would of been an easier way up too.
I parked at the footpath junction to the south and walked up Swans Way to this one (make sure you go to left of the farm and not over the cattle grid as the path goes away from the reservior - as i did to start with!) - pillar is in good condition and located on the edge of the reservoir, low wooded fence surrounds the area and there are several gaps and missing railings, good views of surround area.
Revisit to this one as was in Edenbridge visiting parents for a couple of days - situation unchanged - not the most popular of places :) as no visits in 4 years and only 5 in total (two of which are mine!)Intersting buildings in next door field - with steps leading into bunker of some sort? - look similar to those at Silver Hill. I parked at the end of the bridleway and walked the half mile or so to this one (it looks as you could drive all the way?) Pillar in good condition and located in the corner of small compound next to big round things, reserviors? good views of surrounding farmland nice quiet area too.
Parked at the water tower to the south east and walked along the road then along left hand side of field - pillar is slightly damaged as it has a lump out of the top edge and located in the hedge - looks like it was blue as some stage?.
I parked at the water tower to the north and walked about 3/4 mile along a very boggy bridleway - pillar is in good condition and is located on the non footpath side of the hedge and stream. quiet farmland views.

Easily located Surface Block (well when you know where to look :)) look on the otherside from the fence on the bank inline with gorse bush. Good condition farmland views.
Not too much of a problem getting into compound, nothing that some lateral thinking and a little limbo dancing didnt sort out ;)the south side of the compound. - pillar in good condition as you would expect being locked away like this - no view due to tree cover.
I drove all the way to this, although I felt i should not have, if you know the feeling? Although there were no signs to suggest it was private, the farm track continues on from small industrial area. Pillar good condition farmland area.
This gets a good score for a Surface Block, as rather than the usual road side thing, it is located in the RSPB nature reserve and is a mile or so walk from the car park, interesting area and worth a visit. Block is located on the bank of what looks like and old fort. There is the faint remians of the Benchmark arrow in the conrete base I assume an older mark here?

I Parked at the Golf Course for this and walked along the South Downs Way for about 1.5K to this one - this is a good location for a Surface Block, better that the usual side of the road sites. Slight damage, looks like it has been hit by a lawn mower a few times - located just off the South Downs Way by about 3 meters to the East, North West of small Tumulus (shown on OS map). Great views over the Downs and to Eastbourne.
Didnt see this when I was here a few year ago (2005) looking for the pillar - Good condition Bolt right in the centre of the reservoir, good view of surrounding farm land. Strange buildings in next door field - Bunkers?? thoughts?

Don't bother with this one unless you're obsessed! (Guilty as charged) - there is a footpath between the houses to the west of the pillar, where you can access the railway line (look out for trains) I then walked along the edge of the track (non electric) and scrambled up the bank which is very steep and very brambled, pillar is easy once you get to top of embankment. Good condition, crap area and views. Updated 24/03/2012 - I have got so many scrathes on my legs! :)

Bad day at the office (part 3) Found the Life Boat Station - no sign of the usual dome on the roof - there is something up there not look like anything OS - possibly missing??
Bad day at the office (part2) found the farm, and set about trying to find someone to ask permission to have a look, no one around so decided (wrongly) to go through gate and over the field for 100m or so to the GPS location - found the spot (well i think i did) was not sure exaclty an Azimuth Mark looks like! - Land Owner arrived, he was not happy and i was escorted off the farm. make sure permission is asked in future, dont make the same misstake i did.
Bad day at the office (part 1) - found location easy enough armed with sketch, tape and spade, nothing! - despite my digging - is it still here? there has been some changes since OS image was taken. Hope to be proven wrong.

Revisit to this one as was unable to get close last time - I went with the intention of asking at the house, I could not find the house as the grounds are so big, i went into the main gate and bagged it while looking for the house - pillar good condition - windmill still in wraps.
Not so lucky with this one (King George V Res)- had to go with the flow - unreachable, not a nice area.
Result! - arrived here expecting an unreachable only to find the gate being unlocked by a member of the sailing club, a quick trigpointing lesson later and i am in - pillar good condition.

I parked at Meldon Reservior and walked over to this via West Mill Tor - then off to High Willhays to bag the county top. A steep and fairly tough walk, but well worth the effort - this is one of those with a wow factor. Two dam construction pillars if you park at Meldon Resr. tried to list them to no avail :(.

Got to within a few meters outside compound - no sign - not on map or visible on Google Earth so going for a definitely missing - hopefully proved wrong.
This is one of those for the more obsessed without doubt. I Parked in Kingstone Road and followed footpath over footbridge above M25 then underpass - getting my self onto traffic island area (bit of a hedgehog run so be carefull) - up the trough the trees and brambles to the bank in the centre of the island - the OS sketch is at best vauge and the sighting points are no longer visible due to the height of the trees - there is a rough sketch showing the location, so this was a trial and error prodding session that proved succesfull after a short while - Block is in good condition and is uncovered now (well for a while) if you fancy a bagg.

I have driven past this one loads of times finally got round to baggin it. I Parked about 400m short of this one in short layby on very busy Hogs Back road, then walked along the side of the road (look out for cars!) Pillar in in good condition and is best viewed from the non-road side, good views to south, hasy today.
Parked at large monument over the road, the pillar is located about 50m from the road but the other side of a high Dear fence, however is does not reach the ground in several areas so crawling underneath is possible if a tad muddy. Pillar is in good condition and surrounded by trees, therefore no views.

One for the more obsessed this one - I parked in the lay by to the east then set off through the brambles following my GPS. loads of brambles and low tress to navigate one of those where you can get scatched to blazes,I think this is one of those for the winter months. This is on private land, the owner arrived walking the dog as I was taking my pictures, she was satisfied with my explanation of my visit, she explained they bought the house particularly because of the hill and the great views, the platform was placed around the pillar to enable seating and picnics to be enjoyed, great location. I Parked on the B3051 and followed the wayfairer way to the foot path junction then up towards the mast, when you reach the point where the path enters the wood. go to the right and follow the path path around the woods, after a while the fence doglegs to the right, about 20 meters beyond , the pillar is resting just the other side of the barbed wire, not at all visible this time of year, so was a hands and knees job to get under the barbed wire - as commented very sad looking, no spider and an attempt has been made on the flush bracket. no views, you can hardly get far enough away to take pictures!!

Bit of luck with this one, as I arrived at the gate expecting a climb, there was a water board man just leaving, i explained the nature of my visit, he was only to pleased to let me look around - Pillar is located on top of a large mount just to the right as you enter the compound, and is almost lost in the bushes - looks like good condition to me - no views.

WOW - what can you say! - Great walk up along the Llanberis Path, intended to use Miners Track, but others have stated you need to be early to get a parking spot. Bit of cloud at the summit but some amazing views - got the Pillar to myself for a while too.

I got to within about 50m of the location on three sides of the old reservior site - looks like it was removed to accomodate this flash looking house.

I drove right to this one along the farm track, not sure if you should or not, but the gate at the end was open and there were no signs to suggest you are not allowed too - Pillar good condition if a little short, farmland views.

Yep! - as said before this is a weird and potentially dangerous place, i find it hard to beleive that this is not completly fenced off! God only knows what goes on here! I had a look in some of the bunkers and down some of the stairs, all looked pretty nasty in there to me. You can drive up to the site from the village hall. Pillar is in good condition and is located on the far side of the site - lost in the nettles. Be very careful if coming with kids or animals!!

I parked in the forestry commission car park and walked over to the site - the concrete base remains of the mast are clearly viable from a distance, at this time of year in a field of wheat, luckily there is a clearly defined footpath across the field and one going back through the remains- definitely nothing here.
I walked in along the Greensand way - past the Warden Tunnel nature reserve, worth a quick stroll round, old railway tunnel has an opening in it, looks like a bit a drug den inside, which is a shame, and there are some sections of old cars and engines lying around. The pillar is located on the other side of the tunnel outside of the reserve, bit scratchy to get too, but the work 3 years ago by Pharisee has still payed off. Good condition. No views.

I walked along the Greensand Ridge to this one then across to mast, great short walk up on the hottest day of the year so far - pillar was completley hidden in nettles this time of year, was about 2 meters away and still struggled to find it! some gardening with the size 10's soon had it exposed - Pillar in good condition, located next to fence to next door Golf Course.
Well I drove to the car park and walked around, I could not find anything! - I will try again another day.

Found the Farmer (retired) told me he worked this land for 40 years, so knows the trigpoint well, and that after he retired the new farmer had it removed and it lay at the field edge for years, but he was quite sure it had gone and been broken up - I also found a farm worker he confirmed the story - think it has gone! He went on to tell me someone else had inquired (MCL?) I confirmed I was not the only nutter looking for lumps of concrete :-)

I parked on the road past Woburn, then up over Duchess Golf Course - then over fence -The pillar is located in thick trees and is quite difficult to spot - Good condition, modified plug - no views.
Bit of luck here - saw it appear on sat nav as driving past - no idea what is was - so got out for a quick look and there it was - block - buried about 6 inches down.
I parked at the end of lane leading to the farms and walked the mile or so up the bridle way to the pillar, it is in very good condition and is located about 50m off the bridle way in a fenced field (no crops) - This is my second visit to this one but as that was 30 plus years ago as a Boy Scout, i figured it did not count!

Interesting Pagoda in Kew Gardens, visited loads of times over the years at a guess first in the 1970's.
I parked on the lane to Old Soar and walked up the footpath for 10 minutes - then left onto bridleway - pillar is located in fairly dence woodland about 25 metres off track just past gate, pillar is in good condition apart from missing cap. No views due to density of woodland - nice quiet location.

I park opposite "Great Tomkyns" on the grass verge and walked up a very overgrown footpath to the trig. it is located just the other side of the footpath in a paddock - electric fence in between!, so 2 meters was near enough for me - good condition, all bits intact. reasonable view.
Renovation work to pub/resteraunt now complete - you can park next to trig, well the hedge it lives in. (they don't get a lot easier than this!) good condition, painted white, resin plug. Not an intersting location.

One for the enthusiast this one - it has it all, barbed wire, nettles, brambles and finally a blackthorne hedge about 8 foot thick - looks simple on the map as only a few meters from farm track/bridleway, not so! to make it worse, i get all the way to it, and my camera packs up, so not even a photo to show for my efforts. Pillar is in good condition.
Re-visit to this one, after looking at the photo on the OS passive station database - I realize now that my first visit drew the wrong conclusion, and that we (myself and Barry) had found something else other than the Bolt, the correct location is approximatley 3 meters south, where there is a normal OS bolt, now nicely exposed after my digging.

Parked on Tithepitshaw lane and walk the half mile acroos foot path to pillar - located right on footpath good condition, bit of grafitti, and modified plug.
I approached this one from a foot path off the road to the Church, then about 500 meters through the woods - pillar is located in what looks like a garden area for the Observatory. Pillar in good condition and still wearing a bowl(er) hat.
Great South Downs Location - located just off South Downs Way - great views in all directions - pillar in reasonable condition - plus missing.
I parked at Firle Beacon Car Park and walked along the South Downs Way for about 1.5 miles - Pillar in good condition apart from missing cap and plug, and is located on the edge of an old Dew Pond (long since dried up). Great views in all directions.
I parked at the Golf Course and walked about half a mile, along a bridleway that runs along side the A249 to this one - located in field just off footpath - pillar is damaged, looks like the spider was removed with a hammer and chisle - nice views.

Bit of a stinker, this one. I parked at the end of the cul-de-sac, and hopped over the old metal gate, from there it is over a rough field, and then brambles, brambles and more brambles, the last 20 meters is almost a crawl. this is one of those, that would be a struggle with no GPS. Pillar is in good conditon, and is completely surrounded by trees and brambles.

Missing? Damaged? Toppled or Moved? Could be any of them. I have logged as toppled or moved, as it is located about 70meters from the original site, lying in a small wood about 5 meters from the road, deviod of any brasswork. A bit sad looking.

Easy to locate bolt, set into concrete around manholes, the bolt itself is large and has OS BM and the benchmark symbol etched into it. Views to the docks!!
Located very close to the cliff edge, above Samphire Hoe. Pillar is the round Channel Tunnel type with no FB. Plug is missing other than that good condition

This one appears to be in the grounds of one of two large houses (one is called Great Mount Cottage - might be a clue!) I got to within 75 meters, then ran into fences. There is a large mound visable from the road, most likely location. This one requires permission.

I think this is possibly an X trig - the site is a new (still under construction) business center, If it is (or the remains of) still around it would be in a thicket behind the business park. I got to within 80 meters from both directions. Earlier maps show a small hillock where the park is now. I think this is worth another go in better weather.
Approched this one from the wrong side, so could only get within about 2 meters, due to fence with barbed wire. Pillar in good condition.
Located about 120 meters up farm track, next to paddock, pillar is hard against a fence, so accessing the FB is a bit difficult.

Located in the reservoir compound, at the end of dead end secluded country lane, only one gate to hop over, no private signs. Pillar is in good condition, as commented before not much in the way of views.

The "Centre" is a cross etched into the frame of the drain, the corner is marked with a blob of white paint, which is almost worn away. My 200th Trig!
Located next to Nelson Monument, very easy to find, the "playpen" is looking a bit tired, and seems to used as a dumping ground, at the time of this visit, there was an old television and radio lying next to the FBM.
Got it! Buried about 6 inches down. I realise that I was looking in the wrong place last time, as the OS sketch is a little misleading, today I used the photo from the OS. Block is in good condition.

This one is definitely missing - As mentioned in Alan Grove's log there is what appears to be the remains of the base in the middle of the forest path. There are also some lumps of concrete in the woods nearby that look like they could possibly be the remains. Strange that this one had to be destroyed.

This area has changed since the OS site photogrph was taken. The Rivet is now located under some fairly substantial gates to a mobile home park. The Rivet itself is a bit bashed about, possibly damaged in the work to fit the gates.
Located in the Nature Reserve next to a dyke, this is a very isolated place for the south east of England, made to feel worse today with a bitter wind. Pillar is in good condition, and appears to be used by the cows as both a scratching post and a Bovine Convenience (see Image)
Located about 200 meters from the A264 near the Sussex Oak PH. No problem finding as mentioned in previous logs - I parked on the A264 in a small lay-by/farm gate, then walked up through the wood then over a fence next to mast, pillar is located in the corner of the next field and is visable from the mast.Pillar is in good condition and there are reasonable views over the surrounding farmland.
Damaged/Definitely Missing - Apart from the base, which is located in the hedge of a field full of sheep. As the previous log, it's a bit of a walk to this one - I parked on the private road to Broxham Manor, just the other side of the DIY level crossing (bit scary!) I then walked for about half a mile across two fields, nice enough walk, with reasonable views. Pity the end result is a lump of concrete in the hedge.
I used to come with my family as a boy, back in the 60's & 70's, I remember this site well. The whole area has changed quite a lot following the bashing it received from the 1987 "Hurrican" Pillar is in good condition, and apart from the OS Information in the centre, there would be no reason to think it anything other than a nice monument. No views due to tree cover.

I got to within about 35 meters of location, and then can up against the fence around the water treatment works. There is a hole in the corner of the fence, but at the time of my visit there were cars parked outside the main water works building, so decided to leave this one for another day! Updated to definitely missing in view of other logs.
Managed to get within about 15 meters of location on GPS, after walking up the side of the warter works (M2 Side) from there you can go around the far end of the compound, the nearest reading was round the far side. It would appear to be on the top of the large concrete reservior under some dense vegitation. There is a place on the side where you could hop over the wall and climb the stairs to the top, not something I was prepared to do today, may be in better weather.

This is one of those that looks easy; not so - for three reasons. 1, the rivet is very small (one of the smallest i've seen) 2, It's the same colour as the pebbles in the concrete. 3, The sketch supplied by the OS is not accurate, as it suggests that the rivet is located between fence posts 5 & 6 (from the left) when it is actually between 4 & 5.

I asked the very nice lady in the church office if I could go up to the roof and have a look, to my suprise, she let me. 140 steps later, I'm on the roof, the bolt it's self looks no more than a nail holding down the lead roof. The image of the bolt was too blured - shame.

Third time lucky for this one. Bolt is located in the middle of a grass verge (not on the path as stated in previous report) between the path to the Frognal Corner pedestrian sub-way and the school playing field, the bolt is set into a small strip of broken up concrete running between the edge of sub-way path and the field.

Yes - Strange location, two for the price of one. A trig and a clone!(even down to the recess for the flush bracket) A quick hop over the fence, from the footpath. They are both a bit green and mossy, but other than that in good condition.
A rivet - located on the concrete surrounding a drain, very dificult to spot as almost the same colour as the pebbles in the concrete. Fairly busy road junction, so usual strange looks from passers by when it looks like you're taking a photo of the ground!

Located about 250 meters diagonally across two fields from the junction of Bolney Chapel Road and Bob Lane. Pillar is in good condition, views to the south downs including Wolstonbury Hill
Located next to a fence just of the footpath, looks like it used a cow srcathing post. Pillar is in good condition.
Located on footpath through heavily forested area, no views through the trees, this area must of realy changed since this pillar was built some 60 years ago, still apears to be in good condition
This one is located on private land, or so the very nice man i asked told me; he enquired why I was interested, after my explaination (which seems to satisfy him) he explained how to get up to the pillar, and then went on to say that if anyone asked me what I was doing, don't tell them I told you! Pillar is located on a well kept area of grass (almost like a lawn surrounding it)and is in good condition. see images. I have given this a high score due to me being the first to log it, and for the way (like secret squirrel) I found it.
Typical hedge location, almost lost at this time of the year under a carpet of blackberrys. located 5 meters from road on a footpath.

GPS location would put this one either at the side of an unmade road or in the front garden of houses just to west. aint nothing there.
Strange place, not sure whether the locals should of extended their gardens by 200 meters on to the Downs? pillar is located behind some barbed wire and a field full of rough looking horses!
Another great South Downs location, pillar is in good condition and there are great views all round. easy walk from car park just off A259 East Dean to Eastbourne.
Located completed surrounded by trees between two areas of common land, this would be almsot impossible to find without GPS.
Located in the grass between the car park/local fly tip and the main A259 and the junction with Roedean road. would of struggled to find it, except, someone had been there recently and scraped away the turf.

Just of road at the side of a field. Farmer arrived while i was taking photos, he advised me that he received a letter a few years ago asking if he wanted it removed, which he declined. He also said that it had been adopted by someone from Croydon, and that they used to come and clean it once in a while, no one has been for a while though.

Struggled to find it to start with, 20 minutes of fighting my way through the undergrowth, finally spotted it when heading back to the car, which was parked 10m away!

Interesting place this, on the site of an old widmill, that was destroyed in the 1987 hurrican, nothing left but a few bricks and the mill stones. Pillar has been painted white, and is in good condition

Parked almost on top of this whilst going to Uckfild quarry!, almost impossible to find with out OS site sketch. Required a small amount of "turfing" to locate.

This is on my door step (3 mile walk from front door) my favorite place on this part of the South Downs.
Right on the beach, bit of a shorty, appears to be in good condition for one in such an open location.

Logged long after visit after being remined of a day in 2003 when on a company jolly at the Formular 1 tyre testing - including a full trip round the circuit.
Climbed a couple of years ago - great day!
