Yes, Clochandighter's route is the best--I came back that way! Maybe there is an easy way up on to clear area at summit with trig, but I could not find it. Not for the faint hearted, a proper tree fight through close planted wall of 12ft high conifers from firebreak to south. I acquired a *corneal abrasion*, needing medical treatment, a result of the tree onslaught.

Damp and misty. Recommend visiting on a dry day, tall, wet tussocks, everything below jacket level sodden. Went via Arqivas entrance, arrival there coincided with van arriving from New Forest. Driver advised reception that a "member of the public" was on site, (pointed out the security cameras directed at me!) told them he would escort me through the site. He did, and even opened the gate for me, giving access to the hill.
