Personal details:When I started this lark I thought that pillars were the only type of trigpoint worth visiting. I would look for FBMs but the smaller stuff, bolts, rivets & the like left me cold. However as time has gone by I find myself spending longer looking for these items. I now go armed with trowel, tape and OS sketch. Mrs Dusty shakes her head and refuses to get out of the car. I now find myself looking for Blocks and Bolts listed on the OS Site. What is happening to me? I am even considering getting a GPS to help me with this but at the moment I can not bring myself to turn my back on the Map. I once thought that my aim was to visit the 100 trigs nearest to my home in the Amman Valley. The target then became 500 and then 1000 trigs. Now I want to visit 1000 pillars (Done). Then what? As long as Mrs Dusty continues to enjoy the walks and act as my map reader whilst I drive, then I think this pastime will keep us amused for years to come. As long as I do not break my neck trying to reach or photograph some difficult trig.
