The church of St Meddan in Troon still retains its spire and appears to be in good condition.

Built in 1888, St Meddan's Church was designed by John Bennie Wilson. Constructed of Mauchline stone in the Gothic style, its spire is the tallest structure in Troon and a prominent town landmark. It houses a clock from Glasgow University's Old College, dating from 1751. Inside the church, a large stained glass window, illustrating the healing of Jarius' daughter, forms a memorial to Provost James Gillies.
