Parked near White House pub, then along Pennine Way to where Light Hazzles Reservoir meets Warland Reservoir. I followed the path from there along Light Hazzles reservoir towards Little Dove Lowe then straight up towards the trig, prominent by the Little Holder Stones. Good views, especially north towards Stoodley Pike. This completed all the extant pillars for me with a 20 mile radius of home (113 of them)

Went for it and was rewarded with clear skies after reaching the trig with no problems, and had some great views over the moorlands, lots of windmills and reservoirs. A bleak part of the world and a very solitary walk - no one came my way!

2nd of today (1st being Manshead End). I approached from White Holme Resr, crossed the bridge then up through the heather moorland (pretty easy) to this Magnificent location. This is one of my favourites. It is on a natural plinth, which itself is fascinating, as it has peoples names along with the year they carved into the rock. It was windy up there so I didn't stay as long as I wanted to, but I'll be back. I don't usually attribute my visits to anyone, but on this occasion I dedicate to a Richard Barns who in the year 1824, carved his name into a nearby Boulder (on the other side of the nearby stile). see photo.

From trig point headed north via Holder Stones and picked up path down to leat. You can jump the leat in this direction as the ground is much lower on northern side. Followed the Reservoir Path and there are two stiles on the other side of the drain. However, it was quite full and I didn't fancy taking a leap and ending up in the water. Fortunately a little further on there was a gate and there was a pole across the drain which was possible to cross with care. no proper paths but relatively easy to find a route through the heather.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 26th April 1948 costing £18.2s.7d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SE02/T2 in 1948. Levelled for height in 1962. Last maintained by the OS in October 1980. SITE VISIT: Started from the NNW, Mankinholes. Parked in lane just off public road to south of junction at SD960233. Continued south on that lane to joinn the Calderdale Way which climbs steeply to meet the Pennine Way. Continued south on the Pennine Way until it meets the Warland Drain. Did the human bridge act to cross the flooded drain. Followed fence line to summit. Pillar stands on rocky outcrop called Little Holder Stones. Column in good condition and repainted in recent years but the overpainting of the flush bracket had become grotty, so cleared some weathered paint from the FB to make it more readable. Spider retains original OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces north ~3°. Vented through three sight holes, west face plugged, innards filled with debris. Full 360° panoramic view. Returned via similar route doing a careful balancing act on a sheep barrier to cross the Warland Drain.

A glorious walk from the White House pub on the A58. A cloudless blue sky was reflected in the nearby reservoirs; a hard frost had frozen lesser stretches of water.

Walked up from Withens Clough on Pennine Way south. Drainage channel has to be negotiated before you make your way to the summit. Boulder stones to the NE are a more prominent landmark. Nice white trig on rock outcrops, someone obviously taking the trouble to look after this one. Good 360 degree views, but rather a desolate spot on top of South Pennine moors.

The Little Holder Stones. One of my favourite trigs - totally agree with John Riley (above) - this was the most recent of a number of visits (must have missed John by an hour or so). The moor is circled by reservoir drains which need to be crossed, they're usually pretty empty. The photo of the drain in flood was taken on a later visit to the area (not the trig) in Nov 2005, I've never seen it like this before. If you can't cross the drain there's an access point at southern end of Warland Reservoir. And again 23/03/2007. No cars, on foot.
