An easy 'get' this one: from the viewpoint carpark a quick lope through woodland and heather (paths all the way) to 11118 which retains its cap & is in general good condition. Back to the silver machine just in time to hear Val Mcdermid on Desert Island Discs playing 'The Road & The Miles To Dundee' by Kenneth McKellar which seemed so appropriate as I'd just been observing that fair city in the near distance. First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 10th May 1948 costing £7.13s.6d with flush bracket S4603. Later in 1948 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NO42/T7 in the Dundee secondary block. Flush bracket S4603 was replaced by FB No. 11118 in June 1963 which was last levelled for height in 1971. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1981. Nice path, through the heather to this one. Accidently disturbed two lovers on the way. At the time I could not understand how this trig pillar had such an unusually high FB number. Almost fifteen years later, I was enlightened, as detailed above. Information kindly provided by the OS.
