Expected to find this pillar with no problems - according to map right beside of road - unfortunately it seems to have disappeared - there was a triangular thicket i tried to fight through to see if the pillar was in there but it was impossible without body armour to protect yourself from injury - so just had to accept the inevitable - had a good look around even across the road just in case but to no avail - gone is TP4174 sadly.

Just a field of potatoes, one of many in this area. Just passing by to confirm with other visitors that the pillar is no longer there.

GPS suggested just inside arable field. There's a rough weedy triangular area at S end of field but it doesn't seem to contain a pillar.

Definitely gone. Not where I saw it 17 years ago. Seems to have been removed with hedge, probably by whoever farms the field behind. Road is same as it was 17 years ago. Slight possibility S4601 may survive in somebody's garden.

This pillar was on a raised bank in a hedge by the roadside on the east side of B978 at the south end of the village of Kellas. The flush bracket faced across the road. Visited in Sept'86 and again in May'88. Why have I written everything about S4601 in the past tense? Because it no longer appears on the maps, and the OS have confirmed that it was destroyed in 1997. I wonder if the road was widened? Site visit confirming demise by rockwellcm, 21/06/2004. History: Pillar built 9th May 1948, as a tertiary station in Block NO42, Dundee. Revisited returning from Carrot Hill.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 9th May 1948 costing £5.13s.6d. During 1948 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NO42/T16 in the Dundee block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1971. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1981. The pillar was removed in March 1997. Was in roadside hedge, east side of road, south end of Kellas village.
