Stopped in village of Over and tried to work out location of pillar from LR OS map then used more detailed map on here. However a recent housing development has put a spanner in the works. Looked briefly at other logs for clues. Possibly removed. Knocked at one of houses next to the new development but no answer. No access to new development. Only possibility is that it is between the back fence of the older properties and the fences of the new properties. Looked over the fence from a footpath beside a small allotment and could see a gap. But gate to allotments was locked and nobody about at the house to ask. Might be worth another try sometime.

(3426) Location now a new build development. Previous log noted. You would hope it's been moved to a corner somewhere, rather than being destroyed, but no-one about Sunday to make enquires. Could be an idea for someone to call in at the site office when open to find out the pillars exact fate. Pillar history: Built on the 13th of February 1956, at a cost of £21 4s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in September of 1979. FB is/was S8722

Walked all the way around the site via foot paths and ROW's to try and see over the security fencing. In the end there is a hole under it just to the right of the entrance to the site where they are putting in drains. Squeezed under this and make a quick dash round to the back of the fence to take a picture. Ill put this down as being destroyed as the trig will be in somebodies back garden and they can't have that in there new luxury development.

Could not get access via the derelict properties on New Road, totally overgrown with brambles and nettles. Made a second attempt from the fields behind the properties only to find that the trig was covered in a deep covering of brambles and nettles so inaccessible. Checking the GPS I was within a couple of metres of the trig but couldn't see it. Need to return with a large bramble basher.

I made my way beside the two derelict homes and into the field behind only to discover some horses and no pillar. So I retraced my steps and decided to look behind the gardens of the homes beside the derelict places and the field. Which was where I found the pillar. Getting to the pillar was a challenge but easily over come by just pushing through. After making my way back to the road a local came out and was obviously hanging around because they were worried about me (Probably thought I was casing the joint). But I moved on to the nearby cache and then back to the car.

The two derelict house are still the same but in the back garden is large caravan. Spoke to the owners to ask permission to go through to the back field. They didn't know about the trig point and where it was. It was difficult see at first because of all the brambles but along the back fence of the adjacent houses walk towards the large yacht and the trig is there.

I was not sure how difficult this was going to be from the OS map, but it proved very easy. At first looked unlikely due to houses lining the road, but spotted a grassy track leading off the road by two bungalows that were so overgrown that the surrounding vegetation has reached the chimneys! A gate leads into a field divided into sections for ponies, but without entering you can look to the right and clearly see the pillar. There is a narrow rough stretch of land between the garden fences and a barbed wire fence to the ponies' field - about 15 yards to walk. pillar in excellent condition, not lost in vegetation.

After struggling across a ditch overgrown with vegetation and croosing a hay meadow I finally got stopped by a barbed-wire fence overgrown with hay and nettles. I could see the trig point slightly offset from the hedge behind the houses, but did not want to go through the nettles. This is quite possibly more easilly accessed in winter, or with permission from the landowner.
