Bagged whilst visiting its replacement (S1795). Pillar long gone, but would have been approximately at the junction of the fences in my picture.

(2288) A strange one this. Built 5 months after S1795 and coexisting - about 115m apart from each other - for roughly 20 years. I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why this should have been... As others have noted, you'd have thought this one would have survived given its field boundary location. Pillar history: Built on the 19th of November 1937, construction cost and last maintained by the OS date not in archive. Marked as destroyed July 1958. FB given as being S1915.

Walked up from Normanton. Used this as a reconnaissance mission for the surviving trig pillar. So I did a full circular of Marshall (or Plump) Hill. The pillar is not visible from the bridleway to the W but the field is open. The pillar is visible from the lane to the E, a tantalising 100m or so away. Due to crops I didn't go for it today, will wait for a better opportunity, but for my efforts I am claiming the destroyed trig. Decent views of West and South Yorkshire.

Nothing now remains. presumably because it's been moved into the middle of the field. neither location are referance on the 1:50 OS Map.

Long gone. Was on field boundary adjacent to other trig nearby. I wonder why this one went given its field boundary location?

Visiting the nearby Marshall Hill pillar so just had to have a look where this one HAD BEEN. Obviously I did not find anything as it had been destroyed in 1958 - the year I started work!

Wasn't until sometime after logging Marshall Hill that I became aware of an 'allegedly missing' trig a liitle way to the north at the field edge. Don't know or see why you'd have 2 trigs so close together unless one was replacing the other? I'm logging it but ..............

No sign of it. A patch of nettles near a junction of fences seemed the likely location.
