WOW an amazing day. Walked the circuit clockwise, up the ravine, which wasn't too bad, then over the ridge taking in the 4 munros in one day. Long day but great views and probably the perfect day for walking. Thanks Peter and John for the great company.

Clockwise circuit of Munro ridge - up ravine to Sgurr na Ciche, then SE along ridge via tops to Sgurr nan Coireachan. All minor scrambling in an upwards direction.

Strictly should be NM 90217 96683 but remains are now about 1m further S. Excellent value - 3 trigs for the price of one! I found about a dozen chunks of a stonebuilt pillar (including one with part of the centre hole) which will have been S6148. This was replaced with a Vanessa using new FB S9789 - this is now lying 10m down-slope (due S), intact including its reinforcing bars but missing the FB and spider. This was evidently replaced by a second Vanessa, presumably reusing S9789. The remains of this 2nd Vanessa have been converted to a block, with its re-bars remaining in situ. I found half a dozen large chunks of the 2nd vanessa, including one with the imprint of the spider underside and a top loop. Luckily I was fairly early at the summit so was able to amuse myself classifying bits of ex trig without incurring the displeasure of Munro baggers et al. On a perfect spring day I continued along the superb ridge to the much more normal S9754 Fhuarain before returning to my Arkaig starting point.
#1 stonebuilt - chunk with centre hole
#1 stonebuilt - collected chunks of first pillar
#1 stonebuilt - large chunk in cairn/shelter
#2 Vanessa - 10m down-slope
#3 Vanessa - assembled remains see S9789 for details of replacement pillar (the Vanessa)

My Munro #244 climbed alone. Having spent a few days doing some volunteer work with the Knoydart Forest Trust in Inverie I walked out over Mam Meadail to Sourlies Bothy, surprisingly no one else in there - no one human anyway, I think the annual 'Rodents All Night Disco' event was going on...After a restless night set out on the longest days walking I've ever undertaken, Sgurr na Ciche, Garbh Chioch Mhor, Sgurr nan Coireachan and Sgurr Mor before a very lengthy walk back to Sourlies, arriving to a full Bothy very late and in pitch darkness. Re-examing the photos I took that day I can see both the base remains and the toppled Vanessa clearly visible although I didn't appreciate them for what they were at the time. Needless to say, a 'Must Do' mountain regardless of whether TP bagging / Munro bagging / simply hill walking...

Long walk in from Loch Arkaig over Sgurrna h Aide. Snow on summits, spent night in Sourlies Bothy, noisy mice (rat?). Then round via Ben Aden, over some of the roughest terrain outside of skye to Sgurr na Ciche. As described by Peregrinus trigs are a bit of a mess. Then out to Loch Arkaig, finished in the dark. After badly twisting ankle 2km from car.

Wouldn't have known there'd been pillars at this location from the evidence on the ground. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough?

This, in my opinion, is the finest Munro. 1995 from Camusrory, rained all day, low cloud etc. 1998. From Glen Affric over two intervening munros. Glorious day. You could see the world, and beyond. When asked which is my favourite Munro, the answer is unfailing, Sgurr na Ciche.
