A good track up to the trig point, but a bit of a boggy nightmare beyond it. Once past Round Hill it got even worse. The final walk of 2011 and my ante-penultimate Yorkshire Dales trig point!

Nice straightforward stroll from the road below. Not too steep, not too taxing... just a reasonable uphill ramble. It was an extra bit special today, however, as the road below was shrouded in thick mist yet the summit was in glorious sunshine and blue skies. Looking down, all the surrounding landscape was beneath the cloud with just occasional neighbouring peaks poking above in the distance. Quite surreal and serene!

Nice after-work stroll on a broody threatening evening up to the top of 1400 foot Beamsley Beacon. Great 360 degree views. Trig in reasonably good condition with some restored top damage. Concrete plug. Must have been painted in last few years. A National Park bronze plaque affixed to the trig gives some background to the adjacent bronze-age burial mound as well as the trig point itself.

Trig has been painted white, and has a large plaque attached to it explaning about the Beacon, and it's massive cairn on the summit. Hiked up from Ilkley, went on to scale neighbouring Round Hill and back into Ilkley. Shame it was low cloud though, as I understand the view are wonderful. Ah well next time! 3 of 4. I first came up here on a very foggy day in november 2008. It wasnt quite as grim today, but the view was limited. Trig is very white, but top is considerably damaged, and theres a large plaque about the nearby burial mounds

Slightly damaged atop a cairn on top of two Bronze Age burial mounds. It had a notice taped to it warning us not to damage the mounds any further. Lovely views. Tarmac plug. We were mobbed by a lapwing on the way there and back, probably protecting her nest.

Up from the lane and track to the north. A local told me the cairn wasn’t there when they erected the pillar in 1949, so I worked out that, on average, one person has added one stone every other day for 60 years to build it.

Easily accessible. I walked up from the car park near Howber Hill Farm and followed the well trod path up to the top. Magnificent view point up Wharfedale. Damage to top with some restoration. Photographs taken on a return visit on a glorious November day. [12.11.08]

I was fortunate to be here on a beautiful sunny day, what a lovely place. The trig looks a bit sad though, damaged at the top and its not the highest thing around, its having to take second place to a big cairn.

Latest of several visits (first in Dec 2002).A couple of miles north of Addingham. Fantastic views on a clear day but inhospitable if the weather's against you and I seem to just get the extremes, today was awful with wind, mist and low cloud swirling and no view worth mentioning (hence the photo's aren't up to much). Top of the trig is a little damaged. No Cars, On Foot!!
