Attacks continue and this has to fall into an at risk category. looks more like a neolithic stone than a trig point

Much damaged since a previous visit on 23.11.96 when the FB was in place. Seems to be a hang out for the local strong cider drinkers, so continued chiselling is likely.

Not a technical or professional comment but got to say it broke my heart. Local trig point to my dads house. He spent hours pointing out distant villages from the spider plate when I was a lad. Wish I could get hold of the little darlings who did this!Views are spectacular

This trig has been badly beaten-up; you need
to double check just to be sure that it really
is a trig pillar.
All metalwork
pinched and concrete battered.
What remains is covered with graffiti.
The photo on GRP's OSBM site indicates that this was S4138. Birley Edge - looking East
Birley Edge - No FB. The internal angle iron is exposed.
Birley Edge - looking West
Birley Edge - looking North
Birley Edge - No Spider

Pillar on edge of housing development overlooking electricity pylons and industrial sites on River Don. Visit on sunny but cool day. Observed FB number S4138 at variance with that on this website. S4138 in 1983 Ros, Laura and Bob in attendance.
