The most accessible mountain in the Brecons - according to the information board at the Cefn y Galchen car park where we parked. Walked up to the trig on a cold but cloud-free sky, then on to the carn to the north where the best views are to be had, we then walked a further 400m to the east before heading SW back to the road at Carn-y-gorfydd, returning via the road. Pillar is brilliant white, including the flush bracket, which is getting difficult to read due to the build-up of paint. Pillar is in generally good condition, but have classified it as 'slightly damaged' due chips in the top edges and for the missing plug. 1 sight hole open (under the FB), the other 3 closed.

vgc, no cap or plug. Stony summit with a big bouldery tumulus and a fine view. This one is also on the Llanbedr Blaenavon Race route (see Sugar Loaf). Here they looked a bit more tired.

No views at all, but the amazingly strong wind and rain being driven at your face like bullets made this short walk really exhilarating! Parked at Foxhunter car park, by the aerials, staggered to the rig and back, and looked at Foxhunter's grave. 559m Me, Mum
Clinging to the Trig so as not to be blown away! Amazingly windy and driving rain. Fantastic as a short walk and warm home to return to afterwards!

First trig point. Easy walk to summit and good views of the sunset.
29th May 2005 11:43 by Pharisee
My second visit to this one. A pleasant stroll up to the 'summit'. The trig point is structurally sound but has the centre plug missing and has some graffiti on it so I'll mark it as 'slightly damaged'. The view is OK but not really spectacular. It gets a bit better if you go about 600 metres north east and overlook Abergavenny. Today it was warm and sunny, unlike my previous visit when it was blowing a gale and cold. It's worth a visit if you're in the area.
3rd May 2005 13:00 by TTtom
Not much view today due to pretty thick fog. Nice walk though.

5th Mar 2005 14:00 by desperate dan
This was hard earned as the cycle ride up (from the east) goes from 40m to 510m with little respite, and it was blowing a gale with occasional snow. On the rather dull domed top the wind chill was ferocious and the summit wind break very welcome. The shape of the hill restricts really good views and there is no feeling of elevation. The masts don't add much either, nor the various dumped articles going down on the Blaenavon side. Probably best to stick to the north and east flanks if on foot.
8th Feb 2005 14:20 by Rhayader_wanderer
No plug and good views of the local area. On leaving the car park avoid the path to the left if gives a nice view but there isnt a cut across to the top afterwards save for an alternate descent. Trig little changed in the time since the last logged visit
