Overgrown in hedge
brambles all over. fb faces east
The pillar stands on the side of a field grazed by cattle on a low downland ridge to the north of Weymouth. The trig is protected by a dense growth of brambles and an electric fence. It has FB S6000 and the spider is plugged with a metal cap with what felt like deep lettering. My attempt to lean over for a closer look was rewarded with a mild shock to the groin from the fence. The other side of the trig is a stone wall, more brambles and another electric fence on the edge of the adjacent, empty field. A footpath from Broadwey runs adjacent to the fields’ southern boundary. Both fields are easily accessed and the cattle appeared to be almost oblivious to my presence. From the trig downland ridges can be seen to the north and west; Portland can be seen to the south and coastal cliffs can be seen in the distance to the east.
Trig located amongst brambles, so not easy to take picture of the flush bracket. Route to trig rather boggy.
Early morning run up from Weymouth sea front. Eventually found it after searching in an Ivy bush several metres along the hedgeline. Grey morning average views. Trig has all brasswork intact.
Quite hard to spot in hedge.
not found on previous visit in summer
Lovely evening walk up from Broadwey village.Nice views.
Pillar in front of stone wall/hedge. Some good views especially to east. Retains plug, deep indented lettering.
Quite a muddy walk in on the footpaths from the south, the eastern approach looked drier. reasonable view but there area better trigs around here
What a lovely number! Easy access to this one off path after lovely walk up from village. Original plug with deeply-indented letters. Cracks across top surface, otherwise OK. No paint. Sightholes below vegetation level. In hedge on edge of pasture field with distant views in all directions. Returned to car in time to hear that Lincoln had reached the play-offs again for the fourth year running!
Access from the East on ROW,pleasant walk, plenty of cows again.
vgc, metal cap deep letters, W edge of meadow by brambly wall, nice view
Set in a field surrounded by electric fences. Good condition. Reasonable views. Metal plug with heavily indented lettering.
