...27 minute walk across Sherbrook Valley to Brocton Field and the glacial erratic boulder from The Butts. Last of six trigs for the day and a good day it has been. Stopped raining as I arrived at first and started to rain again as I arrived back at the car. I thought I'd better walk to at least one trig point during the circuit. AEH39 you have some catching up to do!!! Pity about the wilful damage to the info plates on the boulder - chavs!

Did not realise what the nearby boulder was till I read Keiths log. Someone has nicked the brass off the top of it. Must be the credit crunch. My first visit to the Chase. Bagged this one and then and the other one to the east and did some caching too. Cold day with light snow showers but much better than being inside.

Within the Cannock Chase country park, near a glacial boulder display. Stone plug. OK condition. Public (It was very clever of the glacier to leave the boulder perched up like that!)
But if the original number was S1975, then what of Hillend in Square SO, which has that number??

The last pillar for the day - still got two caches to find and by now it was raining. This pillar is by the glacial boulder and its carpark. Quite white painted. Asphalt plug replacement. N sighthole open, others closed. Concrete base exposed by up to 12" all round. Good views from here over the Chase as I know from earlier visits but today it was very murky.

Middle of the Chase, near an glacial erratic. Looking a bit battered, has a rather high number for these parts. Easy access, a drive up.
I wonder if the high number signifies that this pillar was a replacement for The Butts, across the valley, as this point was over planted with conifers. This is not the case.. The pillar here is a rebuild.. The original pillar's number was 1975 - been looking for 1975 near Stafford :-) )
