TP2019 - Castle Cary Resr
Logged Visits:
Walked up ROW from SW of Castle Cary.Sited in trees at East side of reservoir. Could just make out last two digits of FB. Nearby paved viewpoint and toposcope.
Unable to get near due to fencing around reservoir. Although visibility not good due to rain good views from hill over Castle Cary and surrounding countryside.
No holes in fence so no access to compound. Great views to N. and W.
Pleasant walk in . Excellent views over Castle Cary.Pillar in res Compound, new hole cut in front of fence or underneath at rear out of sight.Pillar good condition.
Unable to get into reservoir compound. Nice Castle Cary 2000 viewing platform close by.
When I got to the dreadful viewing platform, I looked through the telescope but couldn't see the TP because there was a bush in the way. If townies come to the countryside because it is beautiful, why can't they just leave it as they find it ? I suppose in this case though it could be argued that the water company had allready left its mark.
Good views from the footpath to the pillar from Cary Hill. Trig visible in the compound but could not see an easy way in. Impressive panorama from the viewing platform nearby
Parked at the end of the road heading up from near the church. Good climb up but wet and muddy underfoot. Couldn't see a way into the compound. Good views
vgc, metal cap deep letters, on small resr, nice view, impressive-looking fence ?
We parked at the top of Cary Hill and walked from there. Great views of this pretty small town. There is a bit of chainlink around the back of the reservoir which is hanging down, and this can be climbed over with a bit of effort. Plug with indented lettering.
Glorious view from observation platform and telescope near to trig point. Glastonbury Tor and Brent Knoll clearly visible. Could not access trig point due to waterworks fencing.
