Bit of a drive by. Climb over a gate at the far end of the field after the white house and head in a SW direction. The pillar is not on pink sandstone but some classic Uriconian rhyolite. Similar to that in the cutting on the new route of the A5 which did for a trig point in that position. Good view indeed to The Wrekin.

Friendly couple in the white house adjacent said it would be no problem with the landowner. Use gate just N of said white house. Lovely spot.

The gate was open and people were around waiting for the hunt to pass near the trig. People standing near the trig were suprised that we were there for the TP. We watched the hunt pass by, its the first one I have seen... (with SSMP)#453

A glorious spot, with views to the Wrekin, Wales and The Lawley/Long Mynd. On top of an outcrop of pink rock, as fasgadh says. Concrete plug replacement. Quite a lot of white paint, especially on S face. All sightholes open. Much lichen growing on it. No sheep today but gate into field open so access easy. A pity about the two adjacent mobile phone masts........
