Bit of a drive by. Climb over a gate at the far end of the field after the white house and head in a SW direction. The pillar is not on pink sandstone but some classic Uriconian rhyolite. Similar to that in the cutting on the new route of the A5 which did for a trig point in that position. Good view indeed to The Wrekin.
Friendly couple in the white house adjacent said it would be no problem with the landowner. Use gate just N of said white house. Lovely spot.
You dont think of any high ground between The Wrekin and Shrewsbury so this one is a nice little surprise.
Easy trig-100 yards inside field with great views across to Wrekin
The gate was open and people were around waiting for the hunt to pass near the trig. People standing near the trig were suprised that we were there for the TP. We watched the hunt pass by, its the first one I have seen... (with SSMP)#453
Seen when out with Deego
Good views of the Wrekin ,access easy hop over roadside fence, found gate after!
On a nice little outcrop of red sandstone rocks in an otherwise grassy landscape, with lambs all around. Good condition. Private
Good views parked up by the entrance to the masts without obstructing access then out and back and home. Ted has better similar photos than me for this
Happened to catch the attention of someone in the farmyard who gave me permission to climb up and see this very attractive trig with a good view of the Wrekin.
A glorious spot, with views to the Wrekin, Wales and The Lawley/Long Mynd. On top of an outcrop of pink rock, as fasgadh says. Concrete plug replacement. Quite a lot of white paint, especially on S face. All sightholes open. Much lichen growing on it. No sheep today but gate into field open so access easy. A pity about the two adjacent mobile phone masts........
vgc, flat resin plug, rocky outcrop in pasture
Good view of the Wrekin. Trig stands on top of a rocky outcrop in a field of sheep.
Celebrating England's World Cup Win Interesting one, on an outcrop of pink Uriconian rock. Pillar in good condition, but with a rough surface plastic plug. Not much in the way of a view as it was foggy.. On the way to traditional humiliation at Shrewsbury....
White pillar on Precambrian outcrop surrounded by rough pasture. Good views of the Wrekin. |
