Superb views over to Cross Fell and the other way to The Cheviots, drove right up to high point on road as red flag was not flying.
Drove along road to it from east, but had to walk the last 300m as the road was impassable due to snow drifts
Nice easy drive by. Warm but hazy today so views not brilliant.
Simple drive up to trig point. But what fantastic views of Northumberland in avery direction. Fantastic.
no flag drove up road few yards to trig
Gates shut but no flags flying so decided to risk it.Parked at highest point.Short walk to the trig.Dismal day no views to speak of.
Mapped as a Danger Area but no MoD presence on this dismal day. Parked at highpoint on road, very short walk to trig. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre plugged with tar. Flush bracket faces 79°, east. Vented through south sight hole. The pillar was completed on 14th October 1951 costing £15.0s.9d. In 1953 this pillar was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NY86/T18 in the Hexham block. The flush bracket was levelled for height also in 1953. The pillar was last maintained by the OS in December 2000. Views limited by poor weather on the day. Photographed 5/07/2008, GRP.
Lonely spot on moorland minor road. Army danger area but flag not flying. No sign of pillar having been painted. Plug missing, asphalt filled.
Northumberland. Yes, the gates on this rough road are a pain if you are in a car on your own! Tarmac plug.
Drive up, in the ranges, but open today. Short walk for a view of Redesdale. Gates a pain. Concrete plug replacement. Painted lady fluttering by
