Easy walk up from the road - nice little hill top next to large Granite Quarry - Hill disapearing! hopefully it survives. - Pillar pinted and appears in reasonable condition to me, great view.
Steep walk up hill views of large quarry
7/7 Last of the day but by far the best. Massive quarry enhances the view. Thanks to Wtp again for a day's trigging.
The last of a seven trigpoint outing with CURRYSCRIM and by far the best location – the others had been mediocre to say the least. Nice all round views from up here. The quarry’s not pretty but it gives you a look at the geology and it certainly is big.
Second time I've been up this hill but didn't record details before. Agree with previous comments re getting hard to read the FB no due to paint. More flowers painted on than when I was there last June.
came ti this trig to get a clue for a goecache. A steep climb to get here with a full view of the quarry when you arrive. I use to come up here as a kid years ago as a frend lived very close by.
Newly whitewashed and looking good. Depth of whitewash now such that the FB number is getting harder to read. Two stencilled plants in flower on W side not detracting from it's condition. The 4 compass points painted on top. Although map shows no FP up the hill, there is open access via gates/stiles.
Short climb up hill, Trig has now lost its white coat and has been replaced with a coat of many colours! It even has a stencilled Giraffe on it now! Good views from the top.
easy walk from the road, nice views bar the quarry
exploring the unknown
Nice views even though it was raining - at least it kept the cows away. Trig could be seen from quite a distance due to the white paint job - even the flush bracket was covered, however, the grafiti rather spoilt the look of the trig.
Visited with Vix while caching in the area.
Quick trig and dash between Bombs Away and Neither on the Hill Nor in the Hole. Nice viwes, shame about the graffiti.
Lovely views... of the quarry... but it was such a contrast between the hill and the depth of quarry. The trip point was covered in grafeti but otherwise good.
Visited again (see October) and noticed quite heavy grafiti. However, views still as good.
Good condition but being used as graffiti post by locals
Dramatic location above huge opencast Quarry, walked in from NE around quarry edge with excellent views of the workings.Extensive views.Pillar covered in thick coat of paint, including the Flush.
(434ft) Earlier comments were really useful. Parked in a little layby and had a short but steep walk to a very windy top. It was a great day for it, because the weather was so varied. Quarry is quite a blot on the landscape, but I bet you get good views of the explosions!
Pillar still painted brilliant white (FB included) but now has green graffiti. Plug replaced by plastic (now also painted green), but pillar otherwise in good shape. Good views in all directions (including down!)
full log to follow
Shame there is no description for excellent. This well painted trig stands like a guardian over Croft
Nice walk up and did a cache at the same time
A chance to re-visit the adjacent GeoCache and then a rather slippery climb up the hill on a frosty day. Brilliant white pillar - even the FB was white! Plastic plug replacement. N sighthole open, others closed. Outstanding views in all directions, especially over the neighbouring quarry where the sandstone strata showed up very well. Nice spot!
You can see this trig from miles away with it's nicely painted surface. Plug is missing but someone has put a bunch of flowers in it's place.
Painted white, plug missing. Interesting views into the quarry.
Excellent views, must be the highest point for miles.
This brightly painted white trig can be seen for miles around as it is on top of the only hill in the area. The hill overlooks a nearby quarry and gives grat views of the surrounding countyside. There are no footpaths to the top according to my map but on the ground there are many paths on and around the hill.
vgc; white; no cap or plug; attractive rock/grass summit despite quarry adjacent
Ran out to this pillar from my mother's house. A steep climb east from the road leads to a magnificent all round panorama. |
