Bus to Southall a walk in showers to Trig point.Down good track to gap in hedge.Pillar in large corn field 50mts from wind turbine good views rain cleared ,away to Osmanthorpe Manor.

Easy access along field edges. No crops yet in field. Pillar in good condition, complete with all metalwork. Good views over the Trent Valley.

A lovely lunch in 'The Bramley Apple' at Southwell after some retail therapy for the wife, then off to get this pillar. Thought access might not be too easy but was mistaken - there was even a carparking spot. The pillar is about 20 yards in from the hedge in a grain field with stubble. Fortunately [unlike its neighbour] it hadn't been ploughed! The plug is original - slightly indented letters. Traces of paint visible. All sightholes below soil level. Wide agricultural views over Nottinghamshire in all directions except N, where view is blocked by hedge.

White pillar in wheat field near Winkburn. Neighbouring fields had been harvested, but not this one. Fortunately the crop was sparse allowing access to pillar without damage. Sunset visit.
