Akward to park at bottom of lane but then footpath to top of ridge where a quick hop over a barbed wire fence gives access to the trig

Approached same way as John did. A little surprised that considering it's so near the RoW there's no visible path to it. It was a dank, dreary, December day today hence the score. Very windy at the trig. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Also while I'm here and just as an assist to anyone who goes looking for it, both my Explorer & Landranger maps show a trig point roughly 3 miles directly north on Castle Hill - the trig isn't there (it's missing presumed dead) although there is a stone platform a few yards south of the tower that has been the base of something, possibley the trig.

Possibly a little visited place although quite close to the Holme Valley Circular walk. I approached from Thurstonland to the North via the HVC walk and then cut SE along the edge to the trig. Good views across the valley to the northern Peak District.
