TP3738 - Hensborough Hill
Logged Visits:
Parking at side of reservior - easy pop up on to hill - views over water, nice quiet area - Pillar good condition. (unable to get GPS fix :()
Warwickshire. I admit I just drove up to the top car park for a quick visit. I had planned a more leisurely visit with some bird watching but the conditions were hazy. White painted pillar with an asphalt plug.
Easy drive up.. Cracking views of Draycote Water, trig covered in large flies.
Drove all way to top car park Good views
Pleasant location.
Lovely spot.
Passed by on way to nearby geocache
Centre missing, incorporated in a cycle ride round Draycote Water
Odd little hill top. Area very busy.
Visted before running the draycote 35 mile Ultra Marathon
Parked at the visitors centre and took the short walk over fields to the trig. In good order, views across the reservior.
Pay and display car park and lost of yellow lines but the machine wasn't working today. Looks to have a number of trails, the lake and an orienteering course so possibly worth the £1.5 for a family visit
Was working in the area and knew there was a pillar here somewhere. No OS Map with me unfortunately so don't do what I did and drive round the whole lake. Lovely though it was. As you go into the car park, keep driving uphill until you can drive no more and pull up into the small parking area. The pillar is only a 20 second walk from there. Pillar was a bit shrouded in weeds and long grass today. In reasonably good condition, and and others have commented, quite a bit of white paint on it. Great views, although obstructed slightly to the south by overgrown trees.
No one at barrier to park, payment by machine but waste if just visiting pillar. However its quite a nice spot for a wander if you have time.Pillar is almost a drive by event.
On a slight hump above the reservoir adjacent to one of the picnc areas. Has a concrete plug replacement but otherwise OK. A lot of white paint. S sighthole open, the others closed. Excellent views over the Reservoir and S over Warwickshire and Northants. Nice spot in spite of today's Force 7! The ensueing walk around Draycote Water to settle the pub lunch was extremely blustery!!
Wasn't planning to visit any trig points. On a picnic to Draycote water and found this one without looking for it. Concrete plug, FB W side with open sighting on the S side. Fair amount of paint left on the piller, but the colour of the piller's concrete is not usual. Good views to N and E. Can make out Rugby and Daventry. I think Cold Ashby TP is in view.
vgc, resin plug, pasture summit by car pk
Good views
Combined two pastimes in one trip and went orienteering at Draycott. Had to run straight past the trig on the course and then returned to take a closer look at it later.
A drive up. Lovely views over Draycote water on a sunny fresh afternoon. Pillar in good shape but with a concrete plug replacement.
Pillar on hill converted to picnic spot by Severn-Trent Water Authority with good views over Draycote Water - a reservoir used for sailing and fishing. |
