TP3921 - Hill Top Farm
Logged Visits:
parked at farm and easy walk up,bit of a tip in places on the way up but the bad weather must have kept the dog inside, probably got more sense than to venture out on a morning like this.not bad views during short breaks in the mist.
Parked in lay-by on A616.Easy walk up to rubbish tip by masts then pillar short distance to E.Good views over Stocksbridge.
good views over Stocksbridge and surrounding hills. Didn\'t approach via the farm track because of dogs loose. Approached up the hill from Stocksbridge side.
What a dump. All the way up the track to the tower.Looks like a bit of tidying up may have been done. The edge wasn\'t too bad apart from used clay pigeons scattered around the trig base.
Parked by farm, what a tip. Old rotweiler friendly ! Good views to south. Would be quite a nice spot if it was cleaned up.
Views really excellent but ambiance ruined by the amount of general dumping of surplus concrete, ironwork, soil etc. Hill Top Farm is a similar mess and perhaps the two are connected - man with huge dumper truck was descending from the \'tip\' as I went up and he was at farm as I descended. Drove up the track - rather than park anywhere near the farm with its awful assortment of vehicles and other stuff. More of a building site than a farm. Was pleased to escape!
Parked car in lay by near cafe on the A616 grid ref SK 27601 99133 hard walk up the hill towards the radio masts trig near by good views across Stocksbridge back to cafe for nice breakfast.
Clear afternoon good views all around. White paint starting to flake off but otherwise in good nick. Area between the trig and the radio masts is being used as a dumping ground.
vgc, metal cap, shallow letters. On scarp just E of transmitter, night ascent in passing
Great viewpoint parked at the farm but a couple of locals that had arrived with me asked me why I hadn't parked by the mast and saved myself a walk once they new what I was doing. Site looks to have gained a Xmas cross
Surviving, despite all the mess next to the adjacent telecomms masts. Views extend across the Corus steel plant to the Dark Peak moors. Excellent topograph about 300m east on Hunshelf Bank worth a visit.
Excellant all round view, apart from those masts. Walked up from the road, some climb, enjoyed it.
Plug intact. Good distant views despite the local untidiness.
Its a dump.
Excellent views all round only marred by mast/tower. Could soon be overcome by fly-tipping the way it's going. Must shoot up here as there was evidence of shot clays around the trig. so be wary.
2nd pillar of the day having walked from whitwell moor.personally i call this trig hunshelf bank
In field near transmitter site.
OK view
Plenty of masts. Plug with indented lettering. |
