This poor Vanessa now has a large rock wedged in the centre hollow splitting the remaining stump apart. I fear the end is nigh!
Bagged this Munro in cold and foggy conditions.
Stump only remaining of this Vanessa complete with FB. 10/10 for location, they don't come much better except perhaps near neighbour Beinn Sgritheall. Previously visited this Munro 25/04/84 ( last Munro ) & 21/10/03 no trig details noted.
The top half of this circular pillar was mising, the lower had two wide vertical cracks which will enventualy lead to its final demise. the flush number was still intact. Can any interested party please organise a repair
This has got to be one of my best days ever in the Scottish mountains. A good walk up from Inverie via Aonach Sgoilte and the weather was near perfect all the way. Fine conditions on top with views as far as you can imagine! Trig point is badly damaged - a large chunk off the top is missing (see pics) - I guess it may have been struck by lightning.
cylind; vgc; no plug
Got a boat across Loch Hourn, and went up from the shore. Done in a savage snowstorm (Mid June!) Pillar OK, surprising as I would expect a fair bit of meteological vandalism up here. Is it still there? Difficult descent - NE of the hill IS magnetic, and tricky snow work with a trekking pole ( no axe in June on the West Coast!)
Superb spot. Done as a Munro bag. Dropped off by Lamdrover to south of hill and collected by boat from Barrisdale Bay. Logged in 2011 as found photo of me on trig from 93.
A place i always wanted to go. Unfortunately it was misty when i was there so i was denied the views. still a fantastic spot even in mist
Great day out from Barrisdale..!
