Logged Visits:
I tried to go in from the golf course side above the scrapyard but there were too many players. Then moved to a gate further down the road and concealed my bike behind the hedge. The famous horses were confined to the next field today which pleased me as I have seen 2 girls today with jittery horses due to drivers getting too close. Done on a 51 mile ride from Morpeth with the Mickley TP.
Walked in from the west, lots of friendly horses.
Roadside Gateway from (west),walked around edge of golf course then over fence (field with a lot of horses
Start on footpath then carefully across golf course. Not challenged. Oddly not on highest point in field. Having reached pillar made hasty retreat due to horses.
Easy walk over the golf course from the footpath. No golfing activity due to snow. Friendly horse in next field. View up the TYne Valley
In northeast corner of grazing field, new east/west fence, north of pillar. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces 265° west, along fenceline. Vented through northmost sight hole.
Easy access off FP over fence at stile to left of golf coarse
Popped over fence from 9th Tee box whilst playing competition at the golf club.
metal cap deep letters, minor vertical cracks downwards from top, E edge of horse pasture
Some hairline cracks on top of trig.
nice site on the golf course |
