Quite probably the furthest reaching view in the north east and well worth a visit. The trig in in good condition but the mount is slightly damaged.

no cap or plug, top screed damaged, on hill in front of Penshaw Monument- mock grecian temple, floodlit, striking in mist at night!

Very impressive monument! Pillar has some concrete spalling at the top and the plaque has long gone. Plug missing.
30th Mar 2004 15:37 by fasgadh
Imagine my shock when that thing appeared out of the haar. Pillar dwarfed by the mother of all monuments, well until the Angel of course. There was a plaque on the pillar but it has long been nedded. Graffiti and a missing corner too.
