Builder let us in drove to trig
The chances of visiting this looked unlikely on approach with a prison-like double security fence. However, gates wide open and walked in easily. Part seems to be car repairs part derelict
The caps missing with all sights under gravel and no time to dig... reckon its Military?
Strange location for a trigpoint, still, at least it has survived - good condition cap and plug missing
Compound all secure late on a Saturday afternoon - so could not access. Trig visible from road. I could not make out the number on the FB with binoculars.
No sighting ,GPS within o.o3 but could see squat. Not a huge compound but big enough.
vgc, no cap or plug, by NE corner of building, visible from road 40m N of road, 20m W of gate, in hi-sec fenced compound, ex MoD, Motor racing research. 6:10 pm Thurs, bit of a long shot but 2 guys still on site, left soon afterwards, let me in and showed me button on gate to let myself out (v glad the gates opened!) FB faces road, may be readable e.g. with binocs?
Closed gates and 10ft high barbed wire fencing didn't hang around for this one
Arrived at the heavily-fortified compound to find the gates open and no-one about. Spotted the pillar, partly-concealed by a huge lorry with 'Le Mans 24-hour Endurance Race TeamTruck' on it. There's a lot of white paint but no plug. The flush-bracket is painted white. All sightholes below ground level. Shot out quickly - and 30 seconds later the security gates closed automatically, so I got in the car and bolted!!!
Inside what was an MOD enclosure - very very impressive fence and barbed wire. Now seems to be used by motor racing fraternity so gates wide open and no-one about.
Probably in very securely fenced enclosure full of buildings. Now used by private industry, this was a transmitting station for the Foreign Office. Looks very sinister.
Inside high security fence of wireless station. Too scared to ask to go in, so took a photo and departed |
