Bit awkward to get to, found it easier to access from the northern side.
Took me two attempts to find this one, second time with GPS. Pillar now buried deep in the hedgerow, just about visible from 3 feet away at the barbed wire fence. Not visible at all from the other side of the hedge.
Easy find in winter. Park in large gateway off Ludwell lane to the NE.This appears to be local dog walking area with no access problems at all. Pillar is over 1 fence. Good views of Exeter and bus overhead from the nearby airport.
The geeky friend out with tworedboots... Impossibly hard to find but GPS won the day. Incredibly overgrown and couldn\'t get close to it due to nettles, brambles and lack of machette.
My first trig pillar, out with a friend - she with a map and me with a GPSr - I found it first! Could hardly see it as it\'s so overgrown, tried to get to it but had to give up in the end!
I couldn\'t get to the trig as it was surrounded by stinging nettles and a barbed wire fence. Couldn\'t see bracket either but he looked to be in good nick.
Got lucky and parked right next to path leading onto hill. The trig is now behind a small barbed wire fence
easy walk difficult parking lots of yellow lines
Found this one at luchtime today as I work in the area. The trig is in good condition and I enjoyed walking to this one.
Logged in the dark whilst getting a geocache in the park.
Fantastic view - on the right day. Found as part of a multi-cache.
Found this whilst completing Exon View 2 cache. Was really over grown when we found it
vgc, metal cap shallow letters, in alcove in dense hedge, accessible from grassland to S, public access of sorts.
Easy access from the east. Park near the Redrow building off Pynes Hill Lane and take the footpath to Ludwell. It's on the highest point of the hedge to the west. Plug with indented lettering.
This is a nice TP set at the highest point of Exeter's Ludwell Valley Park. It takes 20 minutes to walk steadily up from Northbrook Golf Course on the Topsham Road, although there are a variety of access points and many footpaths. Views of Exeter from close by are very good and you can also look south down the Exe estuary to Exmouth and Dawlish Warren.
Hedge now trimmed for easier access but now barbed wire in way of close up inspection.
Its in quite good condition. Hedge that it's in is starting to mature now. I got badly stung by nettles having a good look at it
Off the back of a 'business park' on the eastern edge of Exeter. The pillar is in a hedge that has recently been replanted, so I'd expect it to disappear from view eventually (at least in summer). Looks ok, a bit battered by the weather, but otherwise happy enough.
