TP5738 - Rosemullion
Logged Visits:
I climbed into hedges on both sides of the track but could not catch a glimpse of the trig.
Found this one when I was placing a cache in the area. (Cornish Trigpoints No 1 GC2Z436 Rosemullion). Covered in ivy.
Found this while walking the SWCP and a complete nightmare to get to (at least the way I went). I think I was on the different side to everyone else. I would never have found this without a GPS and there was virtually no concrete visible just a mass of ivy
Could just make it out in hedge from path. Didn't go over into field.
hard work this, not sure why but thought it was in the hedge of the track, anyway I got there in the end, good views.
Fortunately the hedge is reasonably thin at this time of year, so it was a case of looking for the trunk that was thicker and squarer than the others - and lo it was a heavily disguised pillar.
vgc (apparently - ivy), metal cap, deep letters, fairly easily seen now when approaching from NE, thanks to previous visitors, just R (NW) of gate. FB facing SW, into yard. Straightforward access at dusk, although gang of overattentive bullocks made for an interesting walk-out.
Condition bit of a guess.
Virtually impossible to find at this time of year. Finally found in Cornish hedge line. I agree it is a nightmare to locate
I don't think this is NT land, that starts below the next hedgeline east. We walked down the path towards Rosemullion Head and at the first gate I jumped into the field with the trig in and headed back up to the hedgeline. This is next to the farmyard and pretty exposed. I climbed onto the bank and manged to crawl around and check the FB no without making myself to obvious. I didn't check the plug (which was well overgrown with ivy) as this would have been obvious to anyone in the farmyard. Fair play to NR for hopping the gate to photograph the FB.
Not really inaccesable you just have to jump over two gates (and after all it is National Trust Land). Fantastic from near here looking across to Falmouth, St Mawes, St Antony Head and even up the South Coast to Plymouth breakwater
Not really possible from 1:50000 map to tell where it ought to be relative to hedges etc. Didn't conduct an intensive search.
Completely hidden in bramble hedge, blackened all over. Private
