Didn't have the OS sketch with us so no chance of even looking for it in any methodical way, but visited the site en-route to Crianlarich.
didn't really hunt for it as i knew it wasn't there
Without sketch this one looks unfindable.
Finally calling this one Done... my third fruitless poke n hope - it may possibly be buried deeper under the reworked grassy verge... I,ll leave the deep scanning to TimeTeam.
GPS said 1' away (averaged over 10 minutes). Had a good look around and nothing looking even remotely Berntsen-like. Grass is recently mown as well. So unless it's buried, given the proximity to the road, I concur with Iain's view that it went with the road building.
no luck for me either
Had a good look about but no sign. Evidence of someone (Iain?) digging fairly recently.
Had the OS sketch but may be well buried and theres plenty of rocks down there.
I suspect it went when the junction of A82 and A814 was engineered
