TP5751 - Roundhay Farm
Logged Visits:
just off the footpath.
No change. Cap intact, surround of FB hacked at but FB still solid.
I was not aware of the previous finds elsewhere but its definitely not where it should be.
Since last year a new fence and gate has been installed, which has the effect of hiding the poor trig even more.
Well found my man. Now just a quick dash up the lane.
Well found!! - located at above location (well as near as I can work out) - sorry looking location. Pillar is located lying on its side about 200 meters along bridleway from the end of Church Lane.
Gotcha :-) Called at the farm: farmer described its location: re-used to block a field access, in the village. 1.6km NNW of its original location, lying beside the E extension of Church Lane. Fully intact although an attempt has been made on the FB. Metal cap (half buried), deep letters. Stewardship land: easy access.
concur nothing here
Big Gap.
Yes, definitely missing. Not in either of the wheat fields, one of which had been harvested and not in the hedge separating them, either. Perhaps someone could put us out of our misery and tell us the original FB number? {Many thanks for the e-mail - I have added the FB number to the log}
Location is in the middle of a crop field, and the farmer has obviously removed the pillar as there is no trace of it. Photo shows where pillar use to be.
For the record my cock up from Yardley Hastings :- I am losing the plot. I have just risked life and limb parking on an unlit road followed by tramping around a field in darkness looking at a map from the light of my camera. I have no GPS and couldn't find it - I think the hedgerow it was in has gone also but I really couldn't see a thing ! I will be back - in daylight next time............................... 9/3/04 Sorry, this should have been about Roundhay Farm - I can only say proximity to Yardley Hastings, age and tramping round that field got the better of me, but I was right it (Roundhay Farm)has gone - thanks MCL.
gone - mapped in hedge but all that remains is 1 large tree of hedge & no TP. S6384 on 1993.OS.db an error for S6834 |
