Nice walk from Pillar at Risley across golf course apart from from excited farmer concerned i would wander onto his land.Pillar under spooky tree near parking spot with spooky motorists,walking to next trig near Sisley Lane.

Right by the side of a lane on the edge of a wheat field - even a parking layby next to it! Asphalt plug replacement; traces of white paint. Holes under lugs infilled. N and S sightholes open, others closed. Good N - S views from here. You might even be able to see Ilkeston Town Football Club which is where I'm off to for my one customary pre-season friendly with Lincoln [we lost 3-2!]

Spotted this one on my way to Hermits Hole and figured it would be rude not to take a look. Graffiti still adorning the trig I'm afraid to report - but otherwise still in good condition.

Top of the trig... Etrex on the plugged hole.

Raining when I arrived, so glad this was a "drive-up" trig. Good condition except for graffiti and replacement of plug by what appears to be cast iron. Note that triangulation observations to and from this station were made using a 30 ft. Steel Tower

Ignoring the map as is my want I sort of expected it to be on the other side of the road with views over Stanton & Stavely (you see their manhole covers eg centurion on every street) and the Erewash valley. OS129 offers a viewpoint in that direction. Replacement cap.

Pillar OK then. It was an icy cold winter's afternoon on bike. Nearby Stanton by Dale is very pretty - until you look north. In 1983 the steel works were a real eyesore.
