I parked at HU 2068 5640, by the gate a little way up the track from near the cattle grid on the A971. I walked up the track to HU 1987 5591 before striking out to the west towards the summit with a steep-ish climb after crossing the Burn of Shendale. Pillar sits not far from a cairn and has some damage - chunks out of two corners of the top and some surface loss on a vertical edge. FB faces SSE; metal cap with raised letters; NNW sighthole open, all others plugged. Fantastic view of Papa Stour and Foula from here. Luckily managed to dodge the intermittent showers!

Walked up from the Sandness cattle grid. Excellent weather with great views of Papa Stour, Foula, Ronas Hill and west mainland trigs. Also a cracking view of Walls (pronounced Waas) that shows why it was named for its many voes. Continued walk by way of rocky plateau to Ramna Vord and down into Deep Dale.

Headed up track at point approx HU20745642, at stile broke right to climb hill. Beautiful if cold day which gave great views north to Papa Stour and west to Foula half hidden in cloud.

Concrete missing from SE corner. Shelters nearby. Walked from Huxter along cliffs then up to trig. Would be a superb walk in good weather but no view for me.
