HISTORY: Pillar completed 28th October 1953 costing £49.10s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NH54/T35 in 1955. Levelled for height in 1956. Last maintained by the OS in May 1980. SITE VISIT: Three trig 20½ mile circuit starting and finishing at Snenval. Approached from northeast. Parked by forest track entrances at NH405297. Followed forest track to NH387284 then SW across burn (easy), up slope to leave forest at NH382278, and near straight line SSE up heathery terrain to summit. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces west, ~280°. Vented through south sight hole. Full 360° panorama. Continued to Meall A Chrathaich.
vgc, metal cap, deep letters. Nice summit with large beehive cairn and fine view. 18 mile 3 trig circuit with Meall A Chrathaich and S8176 from Shenval. Forest track W and SW to deer fence then follow burn and forest edge. |
