approach from east on PROW. Pillar on a field boundary by gate to south of path.
Saw lots of hares whizzing about in trig field and its neighbours.
Second visit. SITE VISIT: Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces WSW, ~258°. Sight hole on fb face plugged all others buried. 315° open outlook, interruption centred on SSW is caused by woods on neighbouring plot.
Parked in the same place as others, walked to trig on PROW, didn't cross into field off ROW as in full view of farm.
Views as far as the Coast
Parked at barn above Healy cote Nice walk up hill on FP Trig behind fence Saw deer on way back to car Nice views
For an unassuming trig this was quite nice after a warm sunny afternoon at Cragside. Parked in wide bay by barn at ominously named Throat Wood. "We'll just stay in the car, dear." 2 hares in the field by the trig but wasn't quick enough to photograph them. Scrumptious tea at Anglers' Arms afterwards.
vgc, metal cap shallow letters, E edge of pasture by gate, decent view
Trig pillar in good condition. Flush bracket faces WSW. At the edge of an arable field. Visited and photographed 31/08/1999, GRP.
