Re-visited with more determination to access the trig than my last visit. Red flags still flying but no training since 14 Dec for Christmas break. Easy access into the comms compound through the b/w fence on either side of the gates. Pillar is in good condition. Been painted white, but flaking a bit now. All sight holes open. Plug missing and centre hole open.
Found whilst on holiday in the area.
Located inside a compound within the boundary of the Salisbury Plain MoD training area. We went up to the gates of the compound but I declined to jump over. Trig is visible, but no close up possible without a major trespass.
Compound appears very disused with no-one about, so nipped through gap in fence to take photos.
Within army firing range. Walked up road to compound in which trig is situated.
Ran out from Edington only to find that the trigpoint was within army firing range. Braved it up the road only to find that the trig was within an army compound. Not much could be done about that and we headed back the way we had come.
Accompained Erme Harrier
Reversed up track to compound entrace ,decided against going further due to CCTV .Pleasant area ,possible to drive here from Stoke Hill.
Inside compound.
walked around MOD compound and looked through rusty wire pretending not to see the red rag flying at nz camp
The perimeter fence was impressive but had a gap next to the gate enabling access. Several toppled portaloos scattered around the compound. Good views.
Ranges side and just as I was leaving the car I saw a jeep approaching so opted to obey the red flags once I realised it was in the compond.
in poorly defended compound, vgc, white, no cap or plug, OK views, no access probs
Pillar is thought to exist but is within Danger Area of Imber Ranges. Access is only available on very limited occasions.
in hi-sec compound, seen in poor light; white, looks vgc; FB num not confirmed on site |
