Logged Visits:
Owner present in farmyard as I arrived and readily gave permission to visit. Moved by his father from road side near Aston Abbots. Sited on quite prominent hillock.
Found at its location on mount pleasant camping site without difficulty. Got permission from bloke in framing shop to take a look. Pillar painted white with weight still on top. vgc with cap & FB present
No one appeared to be at home at the time of my visit, so I Drove along to camp site, pillar good condition and located on small hillock next to caravan patch - great to see this one survive.
Top damaged, metal cap shallow letters, painted white, on a grassy hillock with a decent view. The thing on top is some kind of weight. As well as being a Caravan Club site, they also offer picture framing and coarse fishing. The chap I found (in the picture framing shop) was curious as to how I knew the pillar was there, but had no problem with my going to see it. Said his father moved it, years ago. It is nearly 5km north of its original location. Forgot to get out the GPS but found it where expected from Dr Apes grid ref. Well found Sir :-)
Found whilst camping at Mount Pleasant Farm, Dunton Road, Stewkley, on private land with no rights of way. Has it been moved from it's original position?
We couldn't find it. There again, we couldn't find several geocaches today either :-)
Concur definitiely missing but worth a visit, nice geocache nearby as well
God views ,but no pillar, walked all sides but no joy.
There is now no sign of this pillar. It should be right by the side of the road, but it most certainly is not. See the pictures.
