Visiting on a decidely chilly Novemebr day. Parked at the NE extremity of Cwmbran for a shortish circular walk over the hill, which, as Mynydd Twyn-glas is a Marilyn. Some extensive views from here over a wide area, tempered though by noise from scramblers and a shooting range. Trig is in good condition. Pillar ©jonglew

Walked from West, views nil, snow plentiful. Not long after this 20cm of snow fell and brought Marilyn bagging and much of S Wales to a halt. Mynydd Maen Summit view.
Mynydd Maen Flush bracket, of the no S type.
Mynydd Maen Location, couldn't get at cap.

An easy walk up from the west. A walk to contemplate my Dad who passed away earlier on in the day. Nice to give him some thought instead of having to jump into funeral arrangments etc.

A short easy walk up from the one of the parking points on the minor road to the west. If you ignore the pylons and masts then this is a lovely hill with great views.
Liz, Me. 472m lots of grass round here I drag Liz to her 4th ever trig (in two days)....

Walked over to pillar from Pantside Newbridge. It was a very hot sunny day, views were nice and clear all around, shame about the pylons.

The views from the trig aren't great, but from nearby they are pretty impressive especially if you can avoid looking at the avenue of pylons.

Decent more or less flat walk in from the West with plenty of parking just after the road crosses the cattle grid. I had thought about bring my bike for this one and with the torrential rain and hail that hit me about 2/3 way to the trig I wish I had. Scrapped plans for the nearby caches and headed back to the car. Trig intact apart from the filled plug

vgc, asphalt plug, in rushy depression at flat summit. From E this time, nice ascent, with thin morning mist hanging in the valley. Good to be on the hill after a 3+hr drive.
