The trig point is still a lovely shade of brown but now has a nice covering of lichen.

Escorted to the TP by the UK Base Commander of this USAF base thanks to arrangements put in place by my insider at the MOD. Painted brown to reflect the need for camouflage! Poor view but interesting location just inside the perimeter fence
Need to be Top Gun to get in to this one - got to gates and turned around.
Seen from outside perimeter fence of RAF Alconbury. While making retreat from the area back to car a bugle sounded. Immediately afterwards there was a loud rendition of our National Anthem followed immediately by a loud rendition of the USA anthem. This is a USAF base and I am informed by my insider at the MOD that this would have been the lowering of the flag ceremony at the end of the day. It all added a touch of grandeur to a trig one cannot get to.
unless you're an RAF kite-flyer with regulation moustache you've no chance of getting in the ring fenced housing compound for 'our boys' at alconbury airfield...
