TP9607 - Heswall Water Tower
Logged Visits:
on visit to council top
In mobile phone mast compound. OS report destroyed 01/55. Concrete base may still be there.
I came here to visit the County Top and got this trig visit and a nice geocache thrown in. Boy was I glad of some fresh air after cleaning out my sons's student kitchen in Liverpool for five hours. I certainly could not see a water tower as photographed in the old postcard but as others have said there are a lot of trees around.
Could not find it. Found a mast near to Tower Road South. It may still be there somewhere. Found this comment on a web page Poll Hill Common is all overgrown, and the view of the old water tower has been spoiled by an ugly mobile phone base-station"
GPS puts it at top of Tower Hill South near Poll Hill Road.Looked in nearby woods and in Brackenside cul-de-sac where there is an underground res but no sign of a water tower
Retrospective logging as I was up here last year but definitely didn't see a water tower. (26/08/12) |
