Nice lonely trig point, seems to be weathered and a bit wonky but still cool
Nice lonely trig point, seems to be weathered and a bit wonky but still cool.
nice walk up from cwmyoy nice stone pillar very slightly damaged around the corners but bordering on good for me
Visited with Griggsy. Made of local stone and with fantastic views in all directions. It was very windy! Missing plug
From Llanthony Priory
Geocaching along the ridge
Found whilst geocaching along the ridge. Unusual stone column. A very windy day, so the photos are a bit blurry!
Best part of the Breacon are the Black Mountains - IMHO. Location of this trig is high up on one of NW-SE orientated ridges overlooking the Vale of Ewyas. We had parked at Llanthony and followed the steam up Cwn Bwchel to the top of the ridge. Lovely walk, lovely views. And a very pleasing trig built from stones as opposed to the usual lump of concrete; supposed to be slightly damaged, but looked ok to me.
Tough climb up through heather, bracken and bilberry from valley to the west
Circular walk from Capel y Finn to Llantony Priory. Great views all the way, especially coming down into Llantony.
Good walk along the ridge.
Geocaching along the ridge. Great stone pillar with mountain views.
plug missing, nice spot.
Excellent place . All pillars should have views like this! Walked up from Llanthony woods via ROW. Was short on time which was a shame because the weather and views could have kept me for hours.Lovely views down on to Llanthony Priory from the path. Pillar is stone built and in good condition. Came past here in 2002 when on round of Welsh Hewitts but had no photos.
vgc, stonebuilt, with a bit too much mortar for my taste. No cap or plug. Heathery hill, decent view. From S (car park). A quick bite to eat then to Crug Mawr from the same start.
The home leg of a walk that started on the opposte ridge along Offa's Dyke. Goods views from the trig. Trig in good order, don't think the slightly damaged rating is justified.
Unusual, made of local stone. Plug missing.
Walked up from Llanthony Priory on the way to the dam at Grwyne Fawr. Wonderful views on a very clear day. Trig has been "Duckworthed" a little more tastefully than most, retaining it's correct shape.
Visited this whilst out geocaching in the area. The last time we'd been to this trig it was a Christmas Day and during a blizzard. Much more pleasant day today.
Midland Ski Club High Altitude training weekend Plug missing
Built of local stone and in good condition.
A nice pillar built from local stone with good views over Grwyne Fawr Reservoir. Plug missing. The last trig of what would be a 9.5 hour circular walk from Llanthony.
Visited on a round of the Grwyne Fach.Better nick than Waun Fach!
This is one I found whilst sorting out old photo albums and had not logged it aS I was not a "triggie" in those days. The date of entry is 28/05/2013 . The views and weather were superb. This now makes a total of 400 pillars.
Visited during one of the early visits to the Black Mountains when Twmpa and Chwarel y Fan were also visited.
Extremely windy but exhilirating with gusts trying to blow me off the ridge. Walking made extra difficult by my large Cambrian Way rucksack.
Built of local stone,plug missing.
trying out new boots, with heel plasters, on a circular walk over Hay Bluff and Black Mountain. |
