Great condition, missing spider cap. Lovely views in a full 360° went the full way up and down the windfarm track. Just over 9 miles in total.

Parked Fairburn Activity centre to NE - no permission sought - general CP. Mapped track thru woods - unused (gated) and becoming overgrown - more a deer trod and bracken in parts. Wood very open.

Made a circuit of it by parking at the windfarm gate then walking back east then south past Fairburn House and west along the river before heading up fairly easy pathless hill to tracks, then back down them to car.

Started walking up the hill from the main Windfarm track for our 7km walk to the trig. Got to 700m when a Windfarm worker in his car appeared behind us. I flagged him down and asked if I could take my car up. Permission received so walked back down to retrieve car. A pleasant drive up the track to within 300m of the trig. A walk up hill through the moss and heather and there was the lovely wee trig. Stunning views of the mountains and close up views of the Windfarm. Amazing that they can build these huge structures in such remote exposed locations. A quick photo shoot and it was all back downhill again. A nice easy walk on a lovely sunny morning.

Parked in the junction to Fairburn wind farm and walked the path the whole way up through the turbines. The pillar is about 250 meters off path after the last turbine with views all round. Good condition and a little cairn next to it. Can imagine the views in summer would be stunning

Parked at Fairburn Activity Centre and followed the marked track west through the forest. This eventually led out on to the bare heather hill. Up under the electric poles, over Cnoc Liatair and the final pull up onto Beinn an Rubha Riabhaich. A bit boggy in places but not too bad. Trig has now lost its metal plug but otherwise in good condition. Stupendous views in all directions only spoiled by the odd rain shower passing through and the ever present wind turbines. Returned by descending the slopes to the SE and on to the road in the glen. With Nozzer.

Yes Clochandighter you got here first (clap clap clap) well done. Walked up from Fairburn house. Short distance but very steep and quite a long slog. Fantastic views all around including Contin, Marybank and far off west. Almost missed the rain but spoke to soon and got soaked on the way back. Nae luck.. ;)

Hah! beat Spidym, Allymac & Rooboy to this one on their own patch. Also thought either Fasgadh or Saginanivalis might have been here before me, and I see IainMac was in action very nearby today. Beinn An Rudha Riabhaich is 2 hours & 10 minutes walk from Muir of Ord. Left public road at NH476515. Fairburn Estate has walker friendly notices in place. Followed tarmac estate track to NH437518, then straight up, keeping to the right of the stream and steepest rocks. Deep heather and boggy to start with but becomes easier the higher you get, but remember you have to come back down through this lot! Trig pillar VGC. Spider retains OS centre plug with raised large narrow font. FB faces 106°, ESE. Pillar vented through RHS sighting hole. Views to Ben Wyvis, Cnoc Navie, Ploverfield, Kessock Ord, Beinn Bhuidhe Mhor, Dunain Hill, Beinn a'Bha'Ach Ard, Carn na Coinnich, Fionn Bheinn, Sgurr nan Clach Geala, Carn na Dubh Choille. S8467 built 17th July 1955, costing £39.12s.8d. Tertiary station in Block NH54, Inverness. Photographed 14/09/2005, GRP.
