SS72 T014 St Mary Magdalene Parish Church. Over 600yrs old,history shows it has played a dominating role in the development & progression of Chulmleigh. It contains an elegantly carved 16th century Rood screen surmounted by 17th century wooden figures of the four evangelists. OS also lists bolt on tower. Revisited church 11/05/13 having gained permission to access tower to check for Bolt. Unfortunately could see no sign of bolt. Roof looks like it has been replaced. The screen inside the church is worth seeing. The church is open daily for the public to visit. Many thanks to Paul Holmes for allowing access & Nigel Gosling for taking me up the tower. Helped Nigel count the steps down as they will be allowing people access to the tower during there summer fayre. For a small donation of course.
