beautiful stain glass window picture take through the main door of church. back in mr pkb's days as a roofer in swindon he scaled the rear elevation of this roof to repair it

This church is an old familiar sight to me - as a schoolboy we used to pass through the churchyard to eat the wild rhubarb growing there. The spire of Christchurch is mentioned in John Betjemen's poem: 'On hearing the full peal of ten bells from Christchurch Swindon' in which the spire is 'so new, so high, so pure, so broach'd, so tall.' It still seems incredible to me that a Poet Laureate should write a poem about Swindon - bravo, Sir John!

The parish church of Swindon is a Grade II listed building on Cricklade St, built 1851, extended 1916. Has a cut benchmark at base of the turret contaning the tower steps.
