3rd visit to take Grid Ref reading. Another fine, sunny day and this time no livestock in field so took time to revisit the pillboxes. The one NE of the TP is flooded with water, even with wellies on I did not fancy my chances going inside there! ~~ 31/05/20 2nd visit. My first visit on a miserable day in November didn't give any indication what a grand little TP this actually is (on a bright, sunny, clear day). Same route as before from the layby to the NE (there's really not many other options TBH). The cattle in the field paid us no notice, but we didn't push our luck with them by trying to explore the WW2 pill boxes on the crags.

Parked in the lay-by north of Belford and entered the field through the gate which was wide open so no livestock to negotiate, phew! Located the trig easily and we were impressed by the coastal views. Bonus point for the two WW2 pillboxes nearby - managed to get inside the one closest to the trig however the one further down the field was inaccessible due to the amount of slurry in front of the entrance (as I discovered after I'd trod in it, oops!! :-O )

Parked in the handy layby N of Belford, hopped over the gate and aimed for 11o'clock. The light was going but the pillar was nicely silhouetted on the skyline which meant walking straight to it. The nearby pill box was in good nick and worth a visit but I didn't have time to look for the chapel remains. There was still enough light to see where we had spent the afternoon on the magnificent Ross Back Sands.

Caught bus in to Belford walked northwards up road to unmade residential road to its end. Stepped over white wooden fence into coniferous wooded area at southend of crag. Made a decision to ascend the slope, through the woodland reasoning out that the floor would be clear of fight vegetation, up to the two corners in the forest/field boundary. I picked up a well worn animal path and followed it to the fence. Found the left hand corner and climbed over into the field area. Followed along the crest of the ridge and encountered the herd of cattle. They considered me and trotted off in favourable direction. Went pst a concrete pill box and saw the pillar some hundreds or so yards beyond. Photo of pillar and FB and away. Original cap. Hurried back to fence corner as the cattle were viewing me again. Retraced steps through conifer plantation and over fence to unmade road.
