Drove up the golf club maintenance track, opp Ardoch Rd, to park at their sheds (NS 5573 7268). Up though woods and out into field of silage grass. Pillar has fair bit of chipping to the top edges and centre cap missing; rear sight hole sealed, other 3 open. Extensive views.

Mr U2 drove through the golf course as if he owned it and waited whilst I walked along the fence line, somehow managed to cross the barbed wire fence (spurred on as two greens men were coming towards me) and up the wet field to the trigpoint.

Log #335. More or less followed Gerry's route, walked up past the 13th and hopped the fence by a gap in the hedge. Simple walk from there up to the pillar, accompanied by a few planes on approach to Glasgow. Cap is missing and some damage to the top face. [ExP-243/MiP-28/Rev-2/BM-21/IS-31/Other-10]

Cap amiss with only the North Site open on this BSM Pillar. Neat 360 view, though a bit depressed around the base - probably by scratching cows! A very dreich day but the ball-whackers were armed with their Golf umbrellas; luvly ROW access along the outside wall of the Cemetery and across the Golf Course without setting foot on their driveway.. handy fallen tree breaching the barbed field too! ;-)

Boclair ..the rain couldn\'t stop some nosey cows!

My 25k OS Pathfinder sht 403 shows this pillar as being on the line of a fence or hedge but it now stands in an open field. Visible from B8049 road when coming from Bardowie. Beware of walking along this busy road as there is no pavement between Dobbies garden centre at 573727 app and the housing estate south of the trig pt. Fine views from such a small hill! Easiest access appeared to be from Boclair farm so on asking the farmer he readily gave permission.

Slightly damaged pillar with some spalling around the top. Otherwise good condition. FB faces east-ish with east-ish and north-ish holes open. South-ish was closed but the capping is cracked revealing some of the hole. Cap missing and no plug. Spider intact. Accessed from parking just across from the cemetery and followed wall up across golf course. Hopped the fence into the field which was fortunately frozen underfoot! Excellent views to the north and along to Bardowie, Maryhill etc....

First visit. To record FB number. Trig 4 of 12 for the day. Anti-clockwise walking route starting and finishing at Glasgow Queen Street station. The pillar was completed 12th January 1946 costing £5.15s.10d. In 1947 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NS77/T105 in the Glasgow secondary block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1969. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1971.
