Parked up in the gate entrance to the field and walked back to the Trig. Flush Bracket faces in to the field, so took a bit of kneeling on the wet ground to get the Flush Bracket.

(1840) Parked up on the B6056. Pillar barely visible from the roadside, and you need to be the other side of the hedge to see the FB. Field being used for a car boot - all gates open with folks and cars coming and going. So access to the pillar was not a problem at all today. All good, though the centre cap is non original. Pillar history: Built on the 30th of August 1937, at a cost of £5 5s 6d. Last maintained by the OS in May of 1983.

Parked on verge opposite gateway and started looking for trig, advised by a passer by that it wasn’t in the field and if it was we couldn’t go in ‘it’s the law’ or something similar was quoted. Took a while to spot pillar in hedge (Hawthorne ouchies) then realised the flush bracket was on the other side and could only be photographed by entering the field, you can guess the rest.

Last of day jumped gate and its there in the hedge trig in vgc now back over the snake pass which was in thick mist very difficult driving conditions.This was my penultimate trig pillar just one more to go!

parked on wide verge on B6056 (very busy Rd) Managed to view trig from roadside but like others entered field over metal gate and under the vehicle security barrier to view FB side. A number of very interested in us horses in the field hastened our exit. Nothing in the way of views.

Passed this many a time on my way from Dronfield to Eckington but never mangaged to catch sight of it. From New Rd, Apperknowle NE along Moor Top Rd and B6056 Rd. Entered field by climbing over second metal gate on the left at top of the hill then walked short distance back along hedge to this pillar. Uninspiring views W>N>E across pasture to distant hills whilst those to the S are obscured by the hedge. Cap replaced with tarmac but otherwise in good condition. Returned to Apperknowle along quiet country lane via Greenside and Troway then through Mires Spring Wood and finally across fields to Summerley Rd. Access along the PROW that crosses the airstrip near Bentley Farm is hampered by a profusion of electric fencing.

Up here today for a wedding in Dronfield, so time for a couple of local pillars. This one is in the north hedge on the side of the road, by a car boot field, whose gate gives access to the pillar.Ashphalt plug replacement. No paint but lichen spotted. Sightholes below soil level and FB number at soil level. Good views N/E on an absolutely fabulous day!

I looked on the south side of the road at first and was able to scan quite a lot of the hedge from the field, so I quickly realised my error. The pillar stands on the north side, just west of a handy gateway. The field was being cleared up after a car boot sale or something similar.

Made a mess of this one! Looked in the hedge to the South for a while ,had no GPS ref so then started on N hedge,stepped over a fence to scan hedges in a horse field then carried on looking roadside ,nearly back at the car and this irate bloke came running over the field asking what the F i was doing on his land! I decided that he didnt look as if he wanted a conversation about concrete blocks so hopped in car and buggered off,some days ......

Pillar is still there but well hidden by vegetation; not visible from road at this time of year. N side of road, field side of hedge; FB faces into field (thankfully). Found after spending 15 mins searching the hedge on the S side of the road 8-()

This pillar has now definitely been removed, obviously in the last 9 months or so. See photo of place in hedge where pillar once stood. A few of the base stones are still in evidence but the pillar is gone.

Missing Trig pillar This is the remains of the base stones at the site in the hedge.
The hole in the hedge As you can see, the pillar is definitely gone.
